I've seen a variation of this where you'll space the click out multiple bars. Your time is pretty solid if you can play a bassline 8 times in a row and land on the 1 with the click.

Finally got around to checking this lesson out. Nice way to use the metronome to work on timing. Very different idea here on metronome use. Fantastic as always Luke.

Master Luke thank you for the amazing lesson and content. I am a Meshuggah fan for life and a bassist. Trying to play like them using the metronome and there are a few lessons out there but non connects the way your teaching does. Can you please show us..me how to use metronome against polymetric or polyrhythms strictly from a djent point of view. U can break the lessons into small segments of a whole like meteonome djent riffs,using half whole diminished scale, Polyrhytmic metronome groove, Composing simple.djent riffs. Thanx in advance Billy

@@BecomeABassist 👤💛 yeah I suppose 16 or so years then, too long! And these days I am back in ol Mack Town. Moved back this year for a little while, I was missing those box jellyfish too much. Chris mentioned the channel, so cool to see you helping so many musos, they're lucky to have ya!

Are you hammering on to the second and fourth 16th notes in the first grouping of four, or are you plucking every note?
@thomasfioriglio4 жыл бұрын
I found it much easier to hammer on . I think Luke was actually plucking them. That was too quick for me.

I'm trying to think of a way of asking with out sounding like a fool,how so you know what notes to play within a key like say g flat what notes would I know I'd have to work with I no very very little theory,like you didn't guess lol
@jakl4 жыл бұрын
You'll have to learn a little theory but I'll try to explain without. There's 8 notes in a scale (1 and 8 both being g flat here). I'll try to draw a picture. There's 1 note/fret in between the 1st and 2nd note of the scale, which I'll represent as an asterix, so here's a picture of every note of the scale and every skipped note being an asterix: 1*2*34*5*6*78. You want to avoid playing the * frets/notes because they are outside the key. This works for any key, where the first note of the scale is the key. This is super simplified but hopefully helpful. There's probably much better explanations out there.
