Here’s my tips. 1. Start by walking the distance you want to go. 2. Increase your walking speed 3. Jog until you need to walk the rest 4. Once you can jog the whole way do it 5. Once you’ve accomplished all of the above then follow this coaches instructions.

Hi, I run any distance from 100 metres to half marathon where I can find a race, so I've watched all these videos. I'm not sure whether one's age makes any difference in training, but I'm 58 and was wondering if the Intervals should be run at maximum speed or maybe something like 70% effort? Same with the Fartlek sprints, are they run at maximum speed or something like 70/80% effort? Someone advised me to run 200 metres hills at 70% effort and later on I wasn't sure whether that meant 70% of how I'd run it in a one off sprint, or 70% of how I'd run it in a 5K race, ie already conserving energy. Despite my age, my times have been dropping year by year in the 3 years I have been running, and I've managed a 19:53 for 5K and a sub 5:48 for the track mile. I've got a midday mile race in London on Friday morning.
@Tips4Running9 жыл бұрын
+hauntboy When it comes to workouts, I subscribe to the Mark Wetmore philosophy. Avoid death defying workouts, and save that for race day. 70 to 80 percent max effort for intervals sounds good.

hb I don't think age has a play in things. I used to work with a 60yo who cycled 80k's a day, hill trained every other day, power walked, ran. He's the same height as me 184cm's and me being 43 would put me to shame on pace. Condition your mind and the body will follow ;)

You're pushing yourself too hard, as soon as you begin to feel nauseous you should lower your pace and focus on breathing. If you're someone who actually runs a few times a week it probably has to do with your diet or lack of hydration.

I have a question, I suddenly found out that I can run very fast. Last year I was in track but not this year. Last year I was always almost last. Now I can run faster than even the tall people. But I run at the speed that used to be my sprint, and I can only run faster when I'm almost too exhausted and it keeps building up until I have to slow down. Any explanation?

Can someone help me, whenever I'm in a cross country race when I pass the finish like and stop. Why do my legs start hurting and it feels like I can't move or walk no more? When my team finishes its like they're just fine, how?

Need HELP admin.!!! Tips4Running Hello i am Naveen (age 26, good heart health, 5'6'', 73 kgs.), i am from India i do 6 kms in 30 mins. In india, weather is not always stable,. We have 2 months of intense winter and unlike western countries, 6 months of harsh scorching summers, temperature always above 42 degree, even went on to 46-47 degrees, humidity at higher side. How to improve the stamina in this ever changing weather conditions with summers along with humidity and loo as dominant factor? We don't have leisure of low temperature all around the year. When i was becoming used too to winter suddenly summers arrived and now just adapting to this changing weather. I want to increase my stamina but i am rather spending the energy on adapting to ever increasing temperature and humidity. Also my city is one of the most polluted city of the word, perhaps in top 10. Kindly suggest.
