Here’s my tips. 1. Start by walking the distance you want to go. 2. Increase your walking speed 3. Jog until you need to walk the rest 4. Once you can jog the whole way do it 5. Once you’ve accomplished all of the above then follow this coaches instructions.

Hi, I run any distance from 100 metres to half marathon where I can find a race, so I've watched all these videos. I'm not sure whether one's age makes any difference in training, but I'm 58 and was wondering if the Intervals should be run at maximum speed or maybe something like 70% effort? Same with the Fartlek sprints, are they run at maximum speed or something like 70/80% effort? Someone advised me to run 200 metres hills at 70% effort and later on I wasn't sure whether that meant 70% of how I'd run it in a one off sprint, or 70% of how I'd run it in a 5K race, ie already conserving energy. Despite my age, my times have been dropping year by year in the 3 years I have been running, and I've managed a 19:53 for 5K and a sub 5:48 for the track mile. I've got a midday mile race in London on Friday morning.
@Tips4Running
@Tips4Running 9 жыл бұрын
+hauntboy When it comes to workouts, I subscribe to the Mark Wetmore philosophy. Avoid death defying workouts, and save that for race day. 70 to 80 percent max effort for intervals sounds good.

hb I don't think age has a play in things. I used to work with a 60yo who cycled 80k's a day, hill trained every other day, power walked, ran. He's the same height as me 184cm's and me being 43 would put me to shame on pace. Condition your mind and the body will follow ;)

You're pushing yourself too hard, as soon as you begin to feel nauseous you should lower your pace and focus on breathing. If you're someone who actually runs a few times a week it probably has to do with your diet or lack of hydration.

I like to do a 45 minute progressive run 15 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 15 where the 15s are easy and the 5s are progressively faster. Also minute runs where I jog 1 minute and go race pace (or faster) the next minute. I also like to do 400 repeats on 30 sec to 1 minute rest keeping a consistent 400 time.

We have our first track meet tomorrow... Im running the 400 and the 800.. Scared? yesssss. Why? Because the people i'm running against are from Harper, who are the fastest people ever. no joke. I know the strategy, breathing or what not. like, around that "death curve" long nice strides. then a all out sprint, then long strides around the "death curve" then a ,or what coach says, " GIVE IT ALL YOU GOT OR YOU'RE OUTTA HERE" run. Im so nervous. i usually make it in 1:05 but.. you never know. ._.

The problem with this is that I can't run for 5+ miles, can't run a mile under 8 min., and definitely can't add sprints into a run that I already have trouble with at jogging speed or slower. I can however sprint short distances very fast but that doesn't help my goal of becoming an Army Ranger. I am only 15 but I still don't think 3 years is long enough to reach my goal.

I suck at running. I'm near to the slowest sprinter and the one of the slowest long distance in my class. Probably going to take me a year to get to my goal.

Would you say that if you only do these three worokouts in a week that would be sufficient enough? Three days of training?

Hey i have 2km running tests coming and my stamina is just bad. Since i started gym 5 months ago, did almost no cardio, only thing i have is good quads but that isnt going to help. How am i going to gain enough stamina to run at least 1.2km when tests are in one month? Right now i barely run a lap (400m)

I'm 15 and I have the intention of joining the British army this year when I'm 16. I want to apply now, but of course I have to go through selection and stuff, and running is the only thing I struggle with in comparison to strength etc. I have to run 1.5 miles in 10:30 then after I complete training 1.5 miles in 9:30 to get the job role I aim to acquire. Do you think a 3 mile run every week will do me any good and if so how long do you think it'd take to get my run time good? Also do you have any dietary recommendations? Sorry for so many questions.

hello i need a little help. I use to run the mile in like 5 minutes and like 30 seconds a lil higher i believe, but I've been pretty lazy for the past 2 years. I have enlisted in the army and the required amount is 42 push ups in 2 minutes 53 sit ups in 2 minutes and 2 miles within 15 minutes 54 seconds and i can't even run half a mile at a decent pace without stopping.

I have a question, I suddenly found out that I can run very fast. Last year I was in track but not this year. Last year I was always almost last. Now I can run faster than even the tall people. But I run at the speed that used to be my sprint, and I can only run faster when I'm almost too exhausted and it keeps building up until I have to slow down. Any explanation?

Need HELP admin.!!! Tips4Running Hello i am Naveen (age 26, good heart health, 5'6'', 73 kgs.), i am from India i do 6 kms in 30 mins. In india, weather is not always stable,. We have 2 months of intense winter and unlike western countries, 6 months of harsh scorching summers, temperature always above 42 degree, even went on to 46-47 degrees, humidity at higher side. How to improve the stamina in this ever changing weather conditions with summers along with humidity and loo as dominant factor? We don't have leisure of low temperature all around the year. When i was becoming used too to winter suddenly summers arrived and now just adapting to this changing weather. I want to increase my stamina but i am rather spending the energy on adapting to ever increasing temperature and humidity. Also my city is one of the most polluted city of the word, perhaps in top 10. Kindly suggest.
