Hey there, Ryan! Thanks for the kind words. I used 3/4 inch plywood for the floor, 1/4 inch for the sides, and 1/2 inch for the roof. The floor is the only part that I can't install myself. It weighs 200 lbs or so and is very awkward to pick up. So, I recruit my teenage son to lend a hand each year. Thanks again for reaching out! I live about an hour from u. my kids and I have done low key light shows, this year we would like to go big. question is WHERE DO I START???

Hello Chelsea, I'd recommend, if you want to go big, to go with a pixel show. @canispaterchristmas is an excellent source on how to do pixel shows on KZbin. I'd also recommend Xlights for programming. If you are doing a string light show then I'd recommend LOR (Light-O-Rama). I use Prism software by Revival Control Systems. However, the forums and overall magnitude of help you are afforded through other animators on the LOR websites make it worth it, in my opinion. Revival does indeed have a fabulous owner that has been a great help to us and the overall price per channel is much lower than LOR. However, in the long run, you'll want/need help from other animators over time so going with a software that has good/great online forums becomes a huge advantage! Overall, the key is to add something each year that you'd like to see in a Christmas light show. You have to make it interesting for yourself! Pretty soon you'll be creating year-round...it is addictive!
