I made some of these sawhorses last Christmas with some 1x4's I had left over. They are awesome. Just make sure to have an offset screwdriver to tighten the hinges if you put them below the wood line.

I have the same question, Mike The large 12" square at 1:12 covers 2 boards - so assuming he's using 1x6 stock But 1x8 would obviously work just as well

very nice and simple. but I make mine like cabinet face frames with pocket screws which make each horse 1 1/2" as opposed to 3". which makes them thinner for storage.

Not sure why they would buy Pressure treated. Literally no one in the history of woodworking has had a saw horse rot out for them before it had wore out by other means.
@core89676 жыл бұрын
The zinc screws will self destruct within a couple of years from the chemicals. Smh.
@adamliske6 жыл бұрын
CORYV yup..... should have used SS if they were really worried about them rotting/rusting/or otherwise failing before you destroy them and need to build a new set.

Every Festool tool I have seen sounds like it is running out of torque. I'd never buy one.

Inquiring Minds: Cutting all the pressure-treated wood, without treating/sealing those end cuts, doesn't that negatively impact the longevity of the wood?
@StoneE46 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't think so... The whole point of pressure treating wood is to basically permeate or infuse the wood with the chemicals that prevent rot rather than to simply apply those chemicals to the surface, right?
@soccerman00219816 жыл бұрын
For 1x pieces it's probably soaked in enough, and unless you keep these outside in the elements 24/7/365, they'll be fine
@nick4leader6 жыл бұрын
I think if they were in constant contact with moisture like a deck or stairs sure but for sawhorses I don't think it is much of a worry
@fadetounforgiven6 жыл бұрын
Contrary to what others say, I would definitely apply some kind of stuff to prevent moisture into the wood. It doesn't have to look pretty, it just has to work. I see this saw horses being placed outside on soil, grass or whatever, and sooner or later it's fall, winter or spring and there's water on the ground, so it will make it rot before it should. That being said, I don't think I would go on purpose and buy something for that, I would apply it if I already have it. Or later on after a quick clean.
@islandguy93806 жыл бұрын
No. They're saw horses. Don't leave them outside. Put them away when you're finished your work day.
