As someone whose MOCs are all CCBS Torso-sized, this is very useful and they look super cool, even with wacky colors. If only I had those triangular technic plates so I could make these torsos myself!

I built a torso that has a fully articulating spine and clavicle articulation based arms. So far it’s the most realistic and effective torso for articulation I’ve ever had

Anyone know the piece number for those triangular plate-y pieces?
@wholesomegadunka2811 Жыл бұрын
There are two versions. Both are generically called 3x5 triangle liftarms. The ones in this video are the more recent version, part 99773. An older version, part 2905, also works. The difference is in the sides of the triangle. The older version has continuous sides; the newer one cuts more dramatically into the sides. There are niche uses for the extra space that affords. But i dont think it matters in these torsos.

Very cool. But... One CCBS part vs ton of other parts seems much simpler 😅 CCBS body is dirt cheap, but options are good anyways.
@wholesomegadunka2811 Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I totally agree. This happened to be a specific request from reddit for something the exact size of a ccbs torso but with one critical difference - a neck that ends in a socket rather than ball joint. There's no way to do that without a custom build, so that's what this is. I usually try to use prefab pieces where I can and save custom builds as a second resort. Because if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
@Mike-mf3ed4 жыл бұрын
Is it possible to do this for the thinner torso piece?
@wholesomegadunka28114 жыл бұрын
What piece is that? i’m not familiar.
@Mike-mf3ed4 жыл бұрын
@@wholesomegadunka2811 it’s basically the same torso piece, but it doesn’t have the extra ball joints between the neck and shoulders.
@wholesomegadunka28114 жыл бұрын
@@Mike-mf3ed I think I found what you're talking about. So that other torso has a shoulder width of 7 units, as opposed to this piece's 9 units. That means you're looking to shave off 1 unit on both shoulders. In my second example torso, you should be able to accommodate that by replacing the glatorian necks comprising the shoulder joints with a 3L perpendicular axle connector (part 6553) and a lone technic ball. The tradeoff though is that the joint's ball can be liable to slip off, certainly more than a prefab one like the glatorian neck, so how much that bothers you is up to your preference. Other possibilities are to use hordika necks close together and angled to be straight, or using axles with stops and a hollow technic ball. Two 3L stop-axles with hollow balls on either end as shoulder joints with a single unit in between will get you exactly 7 units width like the torso you're aiming at. Building a torso around that would be my best suggestion.

I have just come across this… and i don’t really wanna be that guy, but the first Torso design is literally the Spherix Body Design i created back in 2017… I mean it is totally possible that we had the exact same idea. I had it posted in the TTV message boards sometime ago. I dunno, i felt kinda weird seeing this in a Video.
@wholesomegadunka281111 күн бұрын
If you're asking me whether I plagiarized yours or anybody else's work, knowingly or unknowingly, the answer is unequivocally no. I've never seen what you're referring to. I only started looking at or participating in the wider bionicle fandom at the end of 2019. On the other hand, the principle of using a triangular liftarm as the basis of a torso like this is basic enough that I assume plenty more people than you or me have converged on the same idea. In my case, the triangular liftarm was a go-to for my early mocs long before I started posting online that I used less frequently once I started integrating waist joints which changed the space I needed. The reason this video exists is as a response to a reddit request years ago asking for some brainstorming to make a replacement for a specific CCBS torso piece but with a socket as a neck. And these two fairly simple bodies are what I brainstormed for that. If you're telling me you made the same thing before, cheers. Great minds think alike.

@@wholesomegadunka2811 the angle made one of the pins you used in the middle of the torso look translucent, like the same color as those bohrok eyes Edit: and upon second glance, it is just a normal blue pin, looks aged so the discoloration really threw me off, thanks for the reply though XD
