Great job! Friendly Tip: If you scorch the wood, it helps prevent rotting. Thank for the video!!

I would've done cattle panel for the arch for extra support but great looking beds!

@@TheWillToMakeI fastened 4 pieces of rebar, two in each box and arched pvc plastic pipe from one to the other to form an arch. I would also suggest you fill the bottom half of your boxes with leaves, compost small branches etc that will break down and just use soil for the top half. Lot cheaper and plants need the nitrogen

Love them and I love how You put the arch that will be good For your tomatoes and cucumbers or any other climbing fruit or veggie!
@TheWillToMake3 жыл бұрын
Yep that's plan. I may have to stiffen the top up when the plants grow that high, but I've got time for now.

looks nice how long will it be before it gets rotted ? also how much soil did you use by the barrels just trying to figure out a how much it will be before it start it (4) just like you did it was beautiful and a great idea

You raised your game to a new level with this one! Great work! I've been considering making two of these but cedars so expensive right now.
@TheWillToMake3 жыл бұрын
These actually were super cheap since they were made from the cedar fence pickets, at the time of making these one picket was 3$ and something. So for 2 it was about $55

That's a great build. Nicely done. To strengthen the arch you could use some pvc electrical conduit and bend it between the two beds. Will last ages.
@TheWillToMake3 жыл бұрын
Is that something you have to heat up to bend or would it just retain it's shape?
@brendanlenane26853 жыл бұрын
@@TheWillToMake you'd have to heat it and then bend it or it would kink.

Even with the lip on the top of the raised cedar garden bed and a center stake to secure the bed to the ground, cedar fence pickets will bow and bulge in the center. The wood is just too thin. I've been making 16" high raised cedar garden beds for 10 years now, and I secure a metal threaded rod across the center of the 6' sides to keep the bed straight and rigid. Adds another $5-$8 to the cost of a bed but makes it last a lot longer.
@TheWillToMake2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that definitely makes sense. With how small mine are we have not noticed any bulging though. But it's always a great idea to make it as rigid as you can.
@JettaTDI20052 жыл бұрын
wow.. that look like a good idea and I will perhaps try to make them next weekend. Can you let me know how are the beds so far looking after a year of use?

They are holding up great, just normal wear like the color is brighter now just from the sun.
