I plan on placing some 1:25 scale equipment on a flatbed trailer. However, no sense in buying a trailer if at first I don't know if the equipment will fit. I looked and searched forever and spent hours viewing videos hoping someone would actually, and simply provide the actual dimensions of this trailer! Congraulations!!!!....you're the first to actually mention the exterior dimensions of this trailer...thank you...thank you...thank you!!!

i bought it and end up finding a nice back hoe and sat on the trailer. turn out really great looking! also build that nice looking lowboy and placed that old D- 8 bulldozer on the back of that trailer. turn out great, 🖒

That load securement is a DOT officer's wet dream! "Pull 'er around back, Driver and bend over!" Turned out pretty nice, is there a video of it with a tractor?

@HybridSpeciesVIDS Only TWO logbooks? Yeah, I remember MY first part-time job! Hahaha, just kidding. I also got out before the E-logs became mandatory. The Classic XL was my favorite truck Freightliner ever built, back when they still knew how to build a TRUCK instead of the all-plastic garbage they throw out there today. I'm the lead yard instructor at a CDL school now. Pretty decent money for just standing there all day yelling, "Turn the wheel left! No, LEFT! That's not left, TURN THE WHEEL LEFT!!! Nevermind, it's too late. Pull up and try again!"

Coils should be loaded like the one on the rear so they don't slide. A few more chains too but hey, it's a model not a working trailer. Overall, a really nice build. The wheels on the landing gear really dates the unit as does Fruehauf. They haven't been in business for years, LOL

I really like the way you go over the details. I used to sell 3M automotive materials, and one of those materials was the stickers that go on the sides of the trailers. I used to sell those to the one of the municipalities in town here. It is officially known as conspicuity tape.

@@RightOnReplicas thanks for the heads up on the affordability the flea markets the yard sales I never thought about that I'd really like to get into airbrushing and do a few more models for practice love the semis but I also do cars and trucks I'd like to be as good as you and like you said practice says it all. I like to be able to get ahold of you for more advice please keep in touch

Realizing that this trailer is from the "60's", I made an attempt to bring it up to date and somewhat comparable to what's actually out on the road today. First of all I split the tandem, (not quite 50/50), providing a modern split axle set up and added a large storage box between the two. I beefed up the rear cap and header as well as the DOT railing. To my amazement, for an amatuer like me, it turned out very nice.

Just a note for future visitors. The first image shows the rear "push rods" mounted incorrectly. The push rods are set in an OVER - UNDER configuration (2 sets over and 2 sets under the axle). When upright, the rear push rods are located over the rear axle and under the axle on the front.

Wow it was back in 1970 that I did that trailer for hauling tomatoes with sides on them made out of balsam Woods I wish I kept the trailer in but I didn't🙄

Ck, Like anything else it's supply and demand. This kit is now out of production last released in 2009. I sometimes feature these vintage kits so builders know they are out they if it fills their need. But I'm sorry, I can't control the price. They may be re-issued someday but until then the market rules their value! -Doug

Right On Replicas Thanks for replying - it's a shame that being fairly new (2009) that a kit like this would already be 'rare' when there is an abundance of plastic :). Anyway thanks for the videos as I enjoy watching them and will use them as a reference as I get back into building my kits.
