Learned a lot about transformer design for audio just watching this filled in a few questions I had like about the shielding pin and when It's necessary to use it. I've been a follower of yours on IG for a while now this is the first time I realized you had a youtube. Thanks for the design tips I feel as if it's kind of hard to come by certain information when it pertains to audio circuits specifically!

I laughed so much when I heard that this is "Your invention". We built those in the sixties when I was a boy for recording on my four track Phillips tape recorder..

I approved your comment when I read it because you were obviously confused and therefore someone else could be as well. This box isn't the "DI" box you built in the old days. Its distinctly different because of the impedances and impedance ratio involved. It serves a similar, yet different purpose from the traditional DI Box that you confused this with. This box is actually an invention of mine and I'm sharing it with you for free.

Hey Mike - I'm just getting started in trying to tinker in building audio bits n bobs. I have what I'm sure is a suuuppper basic question if you don't mind helping me out? Why did you choose this transformer? It's a Line Input transformer according the Jensen website. You mention that you should use a 10k:20k as well, does that mean the impedance, turns or something else?! If that's the input:output impedance then I'm a little confused as the specs of this transformer are rated as 11.8k on the input and 3.36k on the output. What am I missing? Appreciate any wisdom you could share. Love the channel so much! Need more of this stuff out there to help newbies like me get our brains working

It means the impedance ratio. The 3.36k published by Jensen is assuming the output load is a measly 50 Ohms and not the much higher impedance of this application.

Where is the ground for the switch and pin 1 going to?

The metal chassis that everything is enclosed in. Sorry it took so long for me to respond. There's a schematic for the ground switch on the Jensen-transformers webpage for this transformer.
