Great live stream. I’m definitely gonna make this fuzz. My vote would be at some point to show us how to do a simple Para EQ pedal or do an actual real spring reverb pedal with a real spring.

I vote for the spring reverb. I once helped a friend take apart an old Vox reverb. ...it was a spring soldered to two (old) cheap, phonograph needles. They even had the lifting arms still attached.

Okay, I came to the party 4 days late and I haven't watched any of the preceding episodes. I am aware of how transistors work and I understand why you're using the system that you are, to avoid soldering . I intend to build this using my soldering iron and a standard board. I thank you, Josh, for explaining your gain structure, I found the initial Fuzz Face problematic and sort of mystifying. I'm thankful for this video. I'm amazed you're sharing your knowledge for free. I'll have to buy another JHS pedal to make it up to you as long as I can make this work. I can't imagine why I shouldn't be able to. Gotta get the Electronics Supply catalogue and make up an order. Again, Thanks!

This topology gave birth to so many variations that have their own character. I'd like to see you breadboard a couple of the more influential versions and explain why it has its thing. With your experience it maybe obvious but to me it's learning. Really enjoying this series!

As to the question at the end: I think that I keep coming back to this series more for the theory, like =why= does {this} mod work for this circuit. If you find it simpler to explain a concept by doing a breakdown of a specific pedal, awesome. If you think that a simpler mod an existing pedal is a better illustration of a concept, rad. While I think that the history of a circuit is interesting, I think that the short circuit angle is =why= the parts make the sound they do and how that fits in to the larger scope of musicality.

Being an owner of a 3 Series Fuzz, this was a great episode!! A couple of little surprises in the setup of the circuit, which make total sense, when comparing the shortcomings of the original FF circuit. Considering all of Josh's obsesses, I’m surprised that the flow of the Coppersound breadboards being opposite of schematics, doesn’t seem to bother him! It’s my only gripe with an otherwise amazing line of products. Keep up the great work!!👌👌

Hi Josh. First i want to say that you made me start exploring and building curcuits for the last 6 months. I retired last year after 40 years in the computer industry and I just love building things, For a next Short Curcuit episode, could you get into OpAmps and build something like your Hard Drive ? Maybe start from a simple Over Drive and tweak it up. Thanks !

I went nuts and tried the Sweet Tea on bass. I’d heard demos of the Moonshine, but not the Angry Charlie… holy cow the Angry Charlie is great for bass! I also like how stacking the Moonshine after throws so much clipping into diffrent clipping it sounds like a synth. (Moonshine first just sounds like stacking drives usually does.)

Thank you so much for this series!! It has truly inspired me to dust off my electronics knowledge I learned in electrical trade school and apply it to pedal building. honestly it was quite humbling to know that pedals are harder to build as it seems, took me like 20 times to get a big muff curcuit working and I had to look like 100 times in each of the earlier live streams to see where I went wrong. Now as an aside, when will you get into building basic op amp curcuits? Would be interesting to see your take and kind of mindset when approaching building. Thank you for this incredible resource 🙏

G'day Josh, Thanks for another great video. I had a question for the video's Q&A section, regarding the bypass signal for this circuit. Since I was late to the show, I checked out the Coppersound site, and found the bypass is part of the board's own circuit. I don't remember if you've mentioned it in the past, so it was a question. Maybe you could mention it in the future, including an extra circuit diagram showing the breadboard's part of the circuit. I would like to request that you leave the Fuzz Face circuit, and move on to a 3 or 4 transistor fuzz circuit. Maybe a lesson showing the Tone Bender Ver 2 circuit. Just a fuzz with a tone control, and NPN transistors. Thanks once again for a great video. I'm looking forward to the next SC show. Andrew

I love my 3 series fuzz but find the bias doesn’t quite have the range I want (the minimum setting is still too gated). Obviously changing the series resistor would help, but I’m wondering if there is enough variation in the transistors used that a different unit might actually have a slightly different range?

Interesting how the breadboard is built right to left, while the schematic and electronics convention for signal flow is left to right. The original fuzzface and wha pedals have the input on the left and output on the right. I wonder when and why this convention changed as pedal design progressed thru history.
