Today we’re decluttering in the Laundry Room as I talk about how to start building your self confidence up!! For myself, I had to start building my Decluttering Self Confidence up so I could be successful in my hoarding disorder recovery. So many times we have so much negative self talk about ourselves each and every day! It’s no wonder why we struggle to reach our goals and feel stuck! I’m sharing what I did to build my self confidence up so I could be successful in my DeCluttering journey!

I have a suggestion for you about recycling. I would put a nice small recycling bin in the laundry room. You say it is your landing zone and there is nothing wrong with that. When you have a recycling bin in the landing zone you can put all paper recycling away in the bin and when the bin is full you or your men can put them in the recycling in the garage. It works perfectly for us and I hope it works for you too 🙏🏼 💝🦄

Two different suggestions. 1. Taller bookshelves so that there isn’t a countertop to drop stuff on or 2. Move the bookshelves out completely and put the book shelves in your new craft area in the basement. It would open the space up so much! Either way it creates left of a drop zone. Nice work

Lovely video as usual. As this is a 'catch all' area a suggestion is that you can put bins for recycle, things to put back, garbage etc. When they are fill it is a trigger to clear the bin.

September 2023. I gave away a bag full of craft supplies. Then, I got rid of a container. I still have 4 shoeboxes with craft supplies: 1 sewing, 1 papercrafts, 1silk flowers, 1 yarn. Tina, Al's wife

I've suggested this before, but saying again in hopes you see. Work with your habits and create large containers for trash outwards, shopping inwards and donations outwards which can include fresh washed clothes. When those containers are full, it's the trigger to move that stuff on to its final destination. That's what I hoped you'd do with the shelves that are your upstairs craft stash. They are a good size for that imo.

I keep watching, every episode. I listen to you saying how you have gone from a stage 4 hoarder and now are stage 2 but still I regularly see you decluttering the same areas over and over. I really hope the time is close that you can declutter once and keep those areas uncluttered. You will most likely find your mental health will benefit also.😊

Manka, good job and you are not alone in it taking years to undo a lifetime of hoarding! Even if it takes a long time it is so worth it to only live with the things you actually need, use, and enjoy and have space to actually live life and have it so much easier to keep clean! I love that Ms Heart tells us the emotional componant to getting excess out.

“I would actually put myself down *so bad,* it was like a defense mechanism - so that if somebody else judged me on my hoard, it wouldn’t hurt as bad, because… I already knew.😔” I felt that in my soul, man. 🥺 It was so so true of me as well. Now -after having done soooo much internal work and fought to re-embrace my WORTH- I no longer put myself down as much. Now I compassionately admit, embrace, and speak up about my struggle. I am not LESSER THAN because I battle this … I am a human being with WORTH and beautiful imperfections, all of which God is using to reach and empower others - just as He has been with you and your channel. ✊❤️‍🔥

Bravo, Ms. Heart! 👏👏👏🧺🥳🎉🦄 Fantastic job, and excellent advice. I actually just cleaned off the tops of my washer and dryer, and plan to keep them that way by checking them and removing stray objects once a week. My Mom and aunts taught me it’s a lot easier to keep up than to catch up. WHO put all that junk in my laundry room, you ask? No one but li’l ole me.🫤 I know you can organize that space and keep it under control. You got this - onward and upward!

I watched this as I decluttered my desk which has become a hot mess. I can so relate to you and your journey. What if you utilize this space as a drop off zone intentionally? Maybe you can but those bins you already have across the top of your white shelf system. You can have a bin for trash that's easier to get to than the garage, a bin for the random things you find to declutter between sessions, and a bin for returns. Maybe for incoming things have one bin for each room in the house so if you're in a rush you can put the things in your hands quickly in the assigned bins (bathroom, kitchen, kids' room, living room, crafts, Pepper), and maybe even assigned bins for things like "sentimental" "things that don't yet have a home" "holiday" and then when you see the bin getting full, and you have the time and focus to fully put things away you already have things sorted by room. I know a habit that's worth continuing to work on is not letting yourself put things down in the first place, but put them away (I've heard you say that phrase a lot!), but I know that's a big habit, our family is working on that, too, I'm wondering if this would be helpful in the meantime?

People please dont think you have a 'disorder' maybe she does maybe she doesn't. Don't label yourself in this way. It is counterproductive and can cause deep mental trauma which may keep you stuck. Please just be gentle with yourself and love yourself and start with little things to keep your chin up. You WILL get it done if you keep trying consistently. Enjoy the process ❤

You are wonderful. I look forward to each of your episodes. But the absolute best way to stop your laundry area being a drop off zone that distresses you, is to move your cubbies to the basement. It appears that you don’t have seriously important items in the cubbies that can’t find another nearby home. By the way, I never judge the quantity of things you have. I enjoy seeing them! I love your taste.

Looking good. A lot of deferred decisions. We all can relate, hoarders or not, I’m sure. I think you would benefit with a taller shelving unit there. Maybe with more cubbies you’ll have more room to organize your crafts. It seems like that’s one of the hobbies that make you happy and if you have to go down into the boxes to pull things out, you might not create as much.

This is such good progress! It is so motivating to see an area go from chaos to neat. It helps me to keep myself working on decluttering. Wow. I am impressed! Also, I like the wall color. I am thinking of doing a light lime green in our laundry room. Something cheerful. Gray is nice in some spaces, but imo it is way overdone anymore.

Garage is too far for you to take each things EACH TIME! Not just for you but for anyone. You can make proper space in your laundry room as “things to go to the garage”. Where you drop things naturally should be the home for those things. You could confidently say “these recycling things belong here, because me and my family know where to take them once it’s full”☺️

very nicely done. you should be encouraged because you were able to straighten that up so much faster than past times. Normally i don't say this because it is my observation that the more flat surfaces the more mess piles. HOWEVER: I want to suggest one or two more levels if shelves in the long wall in the laundry room. if there is proper space maybe the laundry room could become staging area for all the little incoming and outgoing activities you and family have, instead of the Livingroom.

Yes, I’m fully aware and it’s mostly me and my ADHD subconscious behaviors!! Lol! I meant to comment on one of your recent videos, but I’ll put it here - I know you know about Dawn The Minimal Mom and I know you know about Cass the Clutterbug, but I think you would see the biggest benefit from following Dana K White of a Slob Comes Clean. I feel like her methods would be really beneficial for you. Hold up, come to think of it, you did a video on her Container Concept but she also has the Take it There now method. IMO you would benefit from taking the items to their homes right away so then you wouldn’t have so many spaces that unintentionally become dumping zones. Take the items right to the basement, take recycling/garbage right to the garage instead of making things into projects. Thanks for being you and being so authentic. I truly enjoy watching your videos and am proud of you for how quickly you’re able to make decisions. A very Happy Mother’s Day (weekend 😉) to you!!! ❤
