THANK YOU NEIL!! At 50, I re-kindled my interest in MTB after watching most of your videos. My bike was hanging on my wall since 2012. But after watching your tutorials, I felt hope in upgrading my skill (not my bike yet ). I just knew about GMBN lately, but with your "How to..." videos, I can now do a 4" bunny hop. I will continue practicing to gain height and will move on to other skills like the turning endo, track stand, side hop and of course the jumps. More power to you guys! Cheers.

Loving the hardtail vids. Can we get one on how to manual a hardtail?
@bakirmujkanovic77508 жыл бұрын
Rear sus. doesn't really make that much of a difference if you are lifting the Front wheel. It's a god damn front wheel
@bridgermurray27737 жыл бұрын
The sus squishes and slackens out the geo and makes it a little easier to prop the front wheel up
@bridgermurray27737 жыл бұрын
No, they describe that you need to get in a manual position to do a proper bunny hop. They don't tell you how to hold a manual on a hardtail. Do you know what a manual is?
@bridgermurray27737 жыл бұрын
Yeah don't think you know what I'm talking about... :D I'm talking about holding a manual for like, more than five feet. Not the same as putting your arse back and watching your front wheel pop up a few inches.
@bridgermurray27737 жыл бұрын
Yeah you should look up what a manual is it's different than a wheelie. I don't think you should be arguing with me if you don't know what I'm talking about...

Great video! I am one of the 'shorter riders' you are talking about. I really appreciate you demonstrating bunny hops on a bike that is set up "too big" for you especially with the seat being higher up, and being more stretched out. One thing that worked out for me was using a 6L bottle of water on the ground (with some small rocks to avoid movement by the wind) and I tried to bunny hop over it! It works very well and if you do a mistake there's no problem hitting the bottle and it wont damage any bike part ;)

I seem to have a hard time getting out of the L position and throwing my hips forward. I am assuming you are pulling on the bars to get back up from almost a seated position. Do you actually pull the bars towards you to give you enough leverage to get back up from the manual?
@gramnylen59618 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't be using your hands at all for a manual/bunny hop
@MondisCrow8 жыл бұрын
+Gram Nylen It certainly looks as if he is pulling that bike into his stomach. I know he is launching his hips forward but if you watch him very closely you can see that he is definitely pulling back which I suspect is to get back up out of the L position. I need to work on getting my timing down better. I think I am doing exactly what he says is the common mistake of waiting to long to try and launch forward.

Try to do it first in really slow speed with braking with your front break to complete stopping, that will give your brain the notion of the move of your hips towards the bars and transfering your weight forward. Then you can start to do it without the help of the brake. Thats how i learnt it and it was really easy

+Sam Hilton Basics are the same, but not having a rear shock to compress, the throwing weight back needs to be exaggerated and popping the back wheel is so much more difficult. On the trails I avoid the hop on my hard-tail unless I absolutely have to, tend to just manual then unweight the rear
