Thanks Allie. The step by step instructions are awesome. Been deer hunting for years but just started turkey a few years ago. Still working on my first. Learn something new every year. lol.

Since it's relevant to the sponsor, I recently had one of my small freezers break down, luckily there wasn't a lot of meat in there at the time, there was a lot of blood pooling all over, my best guess is that small micro cuts in the vacuum seal bags because of them getting knocked around while frozen, my question is are they're higher quality vacuum seal bags that that wouldn't happen with? Or would that still happen no matter of the quality? I guess i could double vacuum seal?
@OutdoorsAllie6 ай бұрын
I'd imagine there are higher quality bags you can use! What were you using? I try fill my freezer strategically so I don't have to do much digging around. Not always easy though.

Hi Jake, standard thickness on vacuum bags or chamber pouches is usually 3 mil. We do also offer a slightly thicker chamber pouch at 4 mil thickness to help withstand some more "beating" if you will. I'd say if it's something that's going to be stored in a freezer that the contents will be moved around a lot then I would shoot for thicker bags or double bag it like you said. I hope that helps!

Do you gut the turkey before doing this or can you bring it home and go through this process without gutting? Also, is there any wing meat that is worth keeping or is it mainly breast and leg as you’ve shown here? Thank you for the video! Very helpful and informative for a beginner

You helped me out a lot this year, I just started to butcher my own deer so you helped me do that. Your slow step by step helped me out so much so thank you for that, then today is opening day of Turkey here in NY an I finally got my first opening day long beard. An my second ever an im 38. Went back an watched your video to make sure I process it correctly so thank you so much for the video

Duuuuuuuude! Thank you!! I followed right along with your instruction & even got a compliment from the taxidermist after our work. Those breasts always get me, they seem upside down or backward from a chicken or something… Anyway thanks for the detailed directions & those dishes sound great, perfect video. Congrats on the bird Allie & cheers from WI.

Hey Allie!! I have a very minimalist turkey vest becuase I have a small frame and don’t like how slouchy and loose all of the men’s turkey vests are on me. Some days my husband and I put in over 10 miles in hill country and hunt all day long so I want more room for snacks. Recommendations for a women’s or youth vest that has some room?! Congrats on your success and I wish you a fruitful season! 🦃🍗

Thank you! Most of them seem to be very large and loose fitting. I have been using the Tethrd vest and Sitka vest. They're both very nice with lots of room. You may be better off with a bigger backpack and a butt pad though! Good luck this season.

Allie, Great tip using a paper towel and no water to clean tiny feathers from the meat. I know a lot of hunters that soak the meat after skinning which waterlogs the meat. Oh and BTW. I am not a fan of the chamber vacuum. Takes too long when doing large batches. I find the regular vacuum sealer much faster.
@OutdoorsAllie6 ай бұрын
Ya, i don't like soaking meat either. Unless it's a brine!
@nathanritchie42135 ай бұрын
Question. Can I lay the meat in a bowl of salt water for a few days in the fridge and then freeze it?

Nice bird Allie. Wild Turkey is so delicious. When people ask me what wild turkey tastes like I tell them it’s like combining white and dark meat. But the flavor is amazing.
