Btw, when contacting Terry and Ash, you might want to know that Terry was running a pet shop back at home. They are big animal lovers too.❤️🥂xx

Welcome to France ! And well done on getting that contract signed ! As a French citizen living in the UK, I enjoy watching vlogs of Brits or foreigners coming to start a new chapter in my country. It makes me want to come back after having lived most of my (young) adult life around the world. I love that part of Normandy you're now living in. It's incredibly beautiful. There's another youtube channel based out of the countryside around Honfleur which i'm sure you know about ("How to renovate a Chateau ") - they're incredibly creative and entertaining. I will be following your vlog with the same interest and wish you all the best in this exciting new life !

Congrats on your new home and adventure. I am a web seo consultant who used to be a corporate trainer at a very large website development company and have a few suggestions. Your videos would be dramatically easier to follow with better audio. From echoing to wind noise and even car noise, it's very difficult to understand you at times. I am sure you've heard of Stephanie Jarvis of Chateau Diaries, and I think patterning your vlog after her success is highly recommended. To acquire patrons and much needed funding (Stephanie sits at 6 figures currently from Patreon alone), having a regular upload schedule, transparency in where the funds go, a polished intro and outro to brand each video, and specific goals for each month/quarter/year/or project, so that the patrons can witness those goals being met much like a business partner could expect, are really important first steps. I think it's also important to target a specific video length, as KZbin recommends 8-10 min videos for example, to those who view that length most often. Having one 3 min video, then a 15 min video is not using your time most efficiently for building your channel. Then do a daily or weekly ORIGINAL short, not a clip from another video, because that will not be recommended as much by the algorithm, but a unique, maybe funny, viral, etc. type of short. KZbin is reinventing its short video section to compete with Tiktok and will be paying more for them in near future. It's also a way to introduce a new audience to your channel who otherwise would never see it. I also encourage every channel to ask viewers to share and subscribe. Sharing is far more important than likes as it drives up the view count which has more impact on the algorithm. I also recommend looking into optimizing your videos for SEO (search engine optimization) by honing keywords and descriptions/metatags. One last suggestion is to remember how HUGELY important thumbnails are, as that is the only thing would-be viewers see before they scroll on. To convert a larger majority of potential viewers to click, copy Stephanie's approach with a thumbnail that is bright, colorful (edit images to be more colorful than real life, as this can be the punch that helps to get a click, as people want to escape from reality), and tells the story of what the video is about. Thumbnails can be the billboard for your channel and may be the most important first step to improve after audio. Best of luck and my husband and I will be watching!

Thanks this are all really helpful suggestions. We are still getting started and learning a lot as we go. We are toying with getting some new kit which would help with the wind noise etc. Working on a few new videos which will tie the others together and will do some thumbnails etc with those. It is sooo time consuming though and when racing to get the house ready in time for next summer it is hard to find the spare time to get the videos really good.

My husband and I nearly bought Heucourt before you were there. Beautiful chateau and the woods were nice. But virtually the whole building needed re-pointing, and in quite a few areas the bricks were corrupted and needed replacing. We also found the area less interested than where you ended up. So good choice! Good luck on your journey!!

Thanks! Yeah totally agree, the location for that property was a challenge; it was a long drive to Amiens which was the closest place we thought was worth visiting. We are so lucky to have Honfleur and Fecamp so close. Wish the new owners luck though - it was still a stunning property and I'd love to see what they have done with it.

Hi there! I've just found you. If I may suggest, for me it's really difficult to follow work being done within having had a full tour of the house. Plus it would be lovely if your videos were lengthier 🤩🤩

Great to hear that people have the patience to bear with our waffle! Will make some longer ones. We need to get the property tidied up a bit before we do a tour but will do one at some point

Just found you and subscribed. Reach out to other Brit chateau owners. They seem to welcome and help each other. Looks like you have some other vlogs posted so I’ll pop over and watch those. Your new fan. Sally from Arizona.

Can I ask which company you got the mortgage from? I understand it's almost impossible for a foreigner to get a mortgage there.
