We got our kids a hamster and all the accessories from Petsmart. This video shows our journey in picking up our kid's first hamster. Full disclosure, I have had them as pets before so I knew a lot about what we needed and what it takes to keep them alive. Petco has a lot of great supplies to get you started, however, they don't have many options. If you have an idea of what you want to get, I recommend buying from Amazon! No hate, just want to let you know: that wheel is way too small. When hamsters run on small wheels, they can severely hurt their backs, which can cause stress and other health issues. Syrian hamsters need AT BARE MINIMUM a 10” wheel, preferably 11 - 12. Please get your hamster an appropriate sized wheel!

You also need a proper sizes cage and wheel which they are both not big enough.The bedding is not thick enough because hamsters need to burrow and you also need a sandbath.ALSO.the food doesn’t have a good variety of seeds and grains in the packaged food.Hope you read it carefully

those balls are bad for them. Not trying to be hamster police, sorry. I'm sure you take very good care of your pets. Just found this out myself. So I thought I'd share. I'm actually getting ready to make a 50 gallon bin cage for mine. :) Can't wait. There will be SO much room to Burrough and for toys and a big enough wheel (10 to 12 inch for a syrian) I'm going to put a sand bath in it too. I hope you make more videos so we can see your hammy. :) fun!

That bedding is not good for your hamster instead you should opt for an unscented one and as long as it isn’t pine or ceder you should be fine - no hate just trying to help ❤

You should get a tank it way better hair gonna need a lot of space for sale and I hamsters in a big cage. I mean a big a big tank and she is a girl I want to buy her because we we first got her she wasn’t inviting she wasn’t like, oh hamster used to buy me a lot now we got a new And her name is Coco yeah so reason why you want to get it because she was coming to me. She was like show me how to go on the wheel and it was so cute and we asked the person to get the hamster and he was cute so yeah

I hope you are taking the other comments to heart. The cage isn't great, need more bedding, bigger wheel, and throw that ball in the trash. I hope Sprinkle is thriving tho.

Hiya! I know I'm a bit late, But I really recommend you change the following things.. - Don't let your hamster run around the rooms, Sprinkles will find a way to get into holes in the panelling and under doors.

Absolutely not we didn't. However, after 9 months, we talk with the hamster daily and he is really happy. In fact, some may say he is thriving is his setup. Thank you for your concern, but Cookie says to save your keystrokes.

Cookie is so cute but please do a little more research❤ so that he is as happy as you are to have him. You can get a bigger wheel, and some different treats since the treats you got are super bad for you hamster although loved this video❤

I had that same cage..... I made the same mistakes… The cage is too small, the wheel is too small, they need more bedding, NEVER buy those hamster balls and DO NOT touch your hamster right away. I am writing this with kindness. Everybody makes mistakes! 🫶 I have three hamsters now, all living in 775 square inch enclosures. Please remember: happy hamsters are healthy hamsters! 🐹❤

Pls do more research before you get a pet, Needs a bigger cage, Needs a bigger wheel, hamster balls are dangerous instead use a play pen, at least 6in of unscented beeding if not more, more enrichment branches, hides, herbs, ect. Food at pet stores are not good for hamsters. Also don't recommend supporting pet stores they are awful places that don't actually care about pets. Cheek out Victoria Raechel for more help/info

You’re making the same mistake I recently made! I’ve learned a lot more about hamsters since then. Syrian hamsters need much larger enclosures and their wheels need to be at least 28cm.
