All transceivers can communicate between them (does the producer/model count)? I mean, if I am in a group of 7 alpinist, I am pretty sure that they don’t have the exact same model of transceiver.

It does not matter the brand or model as each one can detect the other... good question.

Do the transceiver models differ in the range that other people can search for you? In case you need to be rescued yourself. And what about battery life?
@Backcountryskiingcanada2 жыл бұрын
Every transceiver is different in their range of transmission and detection but they all are typically within 40-60 meters and yes, battery life is different as well between units as some use AA and some AAA batteries. Best to do your research beforehand.

Yeah, BCA or Backcountry Access which makes the Tracker transceiver sell a lot of them and they are reported to be the number one avalanche transceiver sold world wide, but there are also other great manufacturers as well.

They are one of three pieces of essential avalanche safety gear you must have before you go out into avalanche terrain skiing.
