Any chance you are near San Jose? Is there a way to interact with you in social media and maybe hire you for an hour to give ideas on a design problem for a yard?

I have no experience in landscaping, if you want you could send some pics to tropifornia@gmail.com and maybe I could help.

Which water soluble fertilizer do you use?

I just use this cheap $10 Miracle-Gro. www.homedepot.com/p/Miracle-Gro-4-25-lb-Water-Soluble-All-Purpose-Plant-Food-24-8-16-3020506/318696271

I read these should get up to 20 feet tall, with a base more like a large trunk/tree. Yours seem to never get higher than maybe 12 feet, and leaf growth remains strong at the base?
@Tropifornia3 ай бұрын
it probably won’t get that tall because of frost in the winter kills most of the leaves and has to regrow every spring.

@@Tropifornia Is there any plant group on FB where you hang out and could answer a question?

I'm not on FB, you can ask me anything here.

@@Tropifornia I am in plant zone 9b and just purchased a 6 ft Red Abyssinian Banana Tree. Questions before Winter comes: * Should I wait for leaves to wilt before cutting? * Should I give it any nutrition going into Winter now? * Should I bare root the plant out of container and then plant to the ground? It is going into a well drained bark soil in a raised bed, and I can keep it moist but well drained.

I’m also in 9b, the leaves will die when frost hits the plant. I leave the dying leaves on the plant to act like insulation for the new leaves growing from the center. I stop fertilizing before winter, so I wouldn’t give it nutrition now. I wouldn’t bare root your plant, just plant it with the soil in the pot. Good luck!

I bought one and mines died i don't know what I did wrong. I fertilized it and watered it until I found a spot for it 😢 maybe the Texas heat might be to strong I put in a sunny spot

Mine has survived when temperatures have gotten over 100 degrees F. It’s outside full time in the ground and has grown back even after a frosty winter. If you get another one, I would put it in an area that gets some shade during the hottest part of the day.
