Freshly roasted beans, a non-pressurized portafilter and DeLonghi Dedica is all that you need to become a coffee nerd economically 🙂

@@Coffee_KevYes, but what to choose: delonghi dedica OR Gaggia Carezza Deluxe?

I normally use Illy Coffee beans as they are decent quality, much cheaper than fresh roasted and most importantly they grind consistently from tin to tin. Coffee roasters could give us a good idea of grind setting for espresso by using Illy classic as a benchmark i.e. go 10% finer or coarser than you would with Illy classic to get into the right range first time.

Pretty weird situation. I don’t like coffee but want to surprise someone with a machine as a birthday gift. As a swiss, i really dislike nestlé and as an engineer, i like the ability to tinker around with the coffee

Hey Kev, thanks so much for this detailed video. One question - you had the Opal Pod Machine in your line-up - what are your thoughts on it? I'm looking for a pod machine to replace my Nespresso Vertuo that delivers a good quality cup and see this one coming up a fair bit. Would you say it's on par with the Grind Pod machine? Cheers.

Hello Kev, as you seem „expert“ in sage/breville machines, I have a question (maybe an idea for a video). I cannot choose btw the barista touch and the oracle touch, and there is one detail I am unsure about: puck prep! Does the oracle provide a better puck because of the tamper fan (and the better distribution with it) or doesn‘t it matter? THX!!
@Coffee_Kev
@Coffee_Kev Жыл бұрын
See kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpKtpWx3Z855n7ssi=Ewi69vMvaDiWCBsE the oracle touch offers more convenience as the dosing and tamping is done for you. This machine is more for people who would usually go for a fully automatic but who want better cup quality. The fact you know what pick prep is would make me think you're probably going down the home barista road. If you have the budget to be considering the barista touch, have you looked at a stand alone setup, Dual Boiler paired with a capable grinder (Mignon Specialita/Sette 270/Oro/Niche Zero/DF64)?

Hi Kev, What do you think of the Profitec Go espresso machine ?? I'm thinking of getting one!!
@Coffee_Kev
@Coffee_Kev Жыл бұрын
Profitec make some great machines, I really like the look of the Go, I've not got my greasy mitts on one yet, will be doing v soon, but from reputation I think they're one of the best single boiler machines for the price tag. Have you looked at the Oscar 2? Heat exchanger machine, in the past they were about a grand so I always thought there was just a bit too much competition at that price tag, but you can get them in the UK now for around £750 - £800 (Bella Barista have them for the best price at the moment, bellabarista.co.uk/collections/espresso-machines/products/nuova-simonelli-oscar-ii-coffee-machine-black-nero ), for this price I think they're an amazing option, video will be coming soon on that too. Ta, Kev.

Hey Kev, can you review the Ariete 1313 bean to cup? Know anything about the brand? I believe they are owned by De'longhi but still go by the separate name?

Kev i love how you have the much better portafilter Part 1919 on the Bambino and absolutely agree.. this machine should have come with this portafilter considering the cost of the machine. The basic one is just too cheap and plasticky... Surprised you didnt put on that 4 hole tip over the 1 hole on the steam wand.. just the cleaning alone of the 4 hole tip over the single hole makes it a much better experience.
@Coffee_Kev
@Coffee_Kev Жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree, I think it's just a cost thing, the other portafilter is pricier. Yeah I've swapped the tips in the past, the only reason I don't really talk about that much is I haven't get been able to confirm with them that switching the tips isn't likely to cause issues in the longterm.
@adriand6477
@adriand6477 Жыл бұрын
@@Coffee_Kev hehe well i guess i will keep you updated if i see any issues only issue i had when switching the part i got from breville did not come with ther silicone red o-ring.. so i had to transplat the o-ring out of my single hole to the 4 hole i managed to tear it a little as its very flimsy.. I got extra o-rings but so far not noticed any leaks.. For me from cleaning perspective it is much easier to clean the 4 hole and less stuck on milk.. i still soak the tip every few days in hot water and a bit of Baking Soda to give it a good clean.. P.S what i believe does not get talked about enough is descale solutions... what is best.. why not to use vinegar.. Personally i am going to use Durgol espresso scaler on this machine.. I use their regular univeral on the drip..I know it might be overkill.. i would like the machine to last i just hunt for it on sale.

I have a Dedica. What is the best dial-in portafilter?
@Coffee_Kev
@Coffee_Kev Жыл бұрын
There are lots of options, most are bottomless, although there are a couple that are standard with splitters, but standard basket. Bottomless are great, they're a great learning tool and they look cool when you're dialled in, but they can be messy and frustrating too so just be prepared for that. There are loads of options, I've actually just bought this one from Ikape, ikapestore.com/en-gb/collections/portafilter/products/ikape-espresso-products-e61-58mm-bottomless-portafilter-colorful-wooden-handle-rainbow?variant=47558748537131 looks cool, and I've got some of their other bottomless portafilters, they've all been very good. I'll upload a short of it in use when it arrives probably mid to end of next week. Ta, Kev.

Hello Kev! I can't choose and already about to buy a Gaggia carezza Deluxe OR delonghi dedica ec685. Could You help me with that? I do like the idea that dedica has stabilized temperature and I have bought one for my Mom, she is happy with it because of pregrind coffee that is too bitter for me. So, which machine I should choose taking into account that very probably I will try lightly roasted coffee? Sorry for longread.
