Reinforced concrete (RCC) Pipes are manufactured by centrifugal spinning process in which mechanical mixer concrete and reinforcement cage extended throughout the pipes barrel are used. The reinforcement cage for precast concrete pipes consist of spirals or circular rings and straights of mild steel wire. Reinforcement cages are placed symmetrically with respect to the thickness of the rcc pipe wall. By combining the centrifugal force and vibration to spin pipes horizontally, the compaction of concrete is achieved in these precast concrete pipes.
We know that weight of drainage pipe is equal to multiplication of volume and density of pipe.
Let us consider the RCC pipe of 2.5mtr. length outer diameter D=900mm wall thickness of 100mm and inner diameter d = 700mm.
The volume of the RCC pipe = π/4 × (D2- d2) × L.
= (3.14/ 4 ) × (0.900 - 0.700) × 2.5
= 0.628 cubic meter.
As you know, the density of RCC is 2500kg/cu.mtr.
Weight of the RCC Hume pipe = Volume × Density
= 0.628 × 2500
= 1570 kg.
