So I need a known bare metal to calibrate. I cannot calibrate with just shims alone?
@dsareps2 жыл бұрын
That's correct. You are calibrating the reduction in the magnetic or electrical field by a known thickness to calculate a calibration curve. If you need anymore help feel free to reach out to us directly. www.measuremycoating.com

@@dsareps can I calibrate on a freshly blasted surface if I know the surface profile ?
@dsareps2 жыл бұрын
@@Josh-fz9rh Absolutely. If the blasting hasn't caused any deep pits (think popcorn ceiling type pits) the surface profile won't effect the calibration. If it has caused deep pitting then I would recommend either doing an offset or a 2 point calibration.

@@dsareps thanks for the help! I had to pull out my old NACE 1 book. I’ve calibrated with the metal block booklet for forever I forgot how to use the shims alone! 😂 thanks again

You have no idea how much this video helps. I know people say that sometimes, but I am not exaggerating.

do you have a video on how to calibrate Positest DFT and how to do the performance Requirement and calibration data?
@dsareps Жыл бұрын
We don't have a separate video on how to calibrate their DFT (mostly because we haven't had one in house to make the video), the steps are very similar. The biggest difference is that you don't have the "menu" button in the middle. You hit the "-" and "+" at the same time to select and confirm options. If you need more help reach out to us through our website www.measuremycoating.com

After doing these all the i had checked the zero plate reading.. but its not zero.. its comes around 20 microns there is any problem?
@dsareps2 жыл бұрын
Definitely an issue there. I'd say you need to check the zero point. Under calibration go to the zero option and zero it out.

do you do your calibration on the actual job you are measuring
@dsareps2 жыл бұрын
Great question! No you do not HAVE to calibration on the actual piece you are measuring, however you can get better results if you start with an uncoated piece. Different substrates can have different properties which can influence your measurements. Feel free to reach out to us directly with more questions. www.measuremycoating.com

Working on bridges it requires us to have blasted sample plate on first day blasting. All inspectors use that plate for calibration👍
