Hi,Can you make a short video showing how to program a programmable Thermocouple,K,J,PT100 to 4 - 20mA (Smart temperature transmitter modules)Do you have to connect the 24v DC and thermocouple before you program it, Your videos are very good.

🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 00:50 *Typical setup for temperature transmitter calibration involves a 24V DC power supply, digital voltmeter to measure 4-20 mA output, and a thermocouple or RTD simulator.* 01:38 *Zero and span calibration are crucial for temperature transmitters; zero is set using a 100-ohm resistance, and span is adjusted with a 115.54-ohm resistance to achieve 4 and 20 mA respectively.* 04:12 *Five-point verification test involves checking transmitter outputs with specific resistance values (100, 103.90, 107.79, 111.67, 115.54 ohms) to ensure calibration accuracy.* Made with HARPA AI

Hello Ibrahim, what is the value of the loop resistance in your calibration setup, Is it 250 ohms?
@InstrumentCalibration2 жыл бұрын
Yes, It is 250 ohm

Dear sir, As you know, the temperature sensor (RTD PT100) has a specific range (e.g. -200 to 850 ˚C). This sensor transfer temperature to Ohms. That is why it is connected to a temperature transmitter which transfers Ohms into (0-10 V or 4-20 mA) to be able to connect with the PLC. Transmitters also have a specific range (e.g. 0-200 ˚C). My question is since Temperature sensors and Transmitters have got different range, are there certain conditions to fulfill when connections them (like calibration) , would you kindly answer my question? Of course, practical examples are of great importance to me. Thank you and I’m waiting for you reply.
@InstrumentCalibration3 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are certain conditions to meet. First of all, you have to select specific temperature as per your process requirement. If your process range is -100 to 800 Celsius then you can use RTD of range(-200 to 850). And your transmitter should have range -100 to 800 Celsius, and you need to calibrate temp transmitter for range -100 to 800. I hope you got your answer.

Hello Dear Thank you for asking this question. Your question is very interesting. If your transmitter is 0-200 Celsius temp range, you have to have RTD which measures temp from 0-200 celsius. For example, your rtd should have min temp range from 0 to 200RTD

When to use loop resistance and when don't use? and how to know the value?
@InstrumentCalibration3 жыл бұрын
You need to connect loop resistance when you connect 24Vdc power supply directly to transmitter. In other words, when you are testing the device on bench, you need to connect loop resistance. However, you do not need to use loop resistance when device is directly connected with PLC or DCS.

How to Calibrate this instrument with HART tool? Thank you
@InstrumentCalibration Жыл бұрын
Hello Perceptron Temperature transmitter can not be calibrated by using HART. You have to have resistor source, if you are calibrating for RTD. And you have to have mV source if you are calibrating for thermocouple.

Is simulator the only way to callibrate the TT.Is that any other option?
@InstrumentCalibration3 жыл бұрын
Yes, You have to have something to give input signal to temperature transmitter. So, you have to have simulator. You can also do verification by using temperature bath

What If middle range mA readings do not match as per standards? If its out of accuracy range as specified in the data sheet then how can we correct them? e.g instead of 8 mA, if we get 8.3 mA.
@InstrumentCalibration2 жыл бұрын
It only happens when your span is not adjusted properly. In this case, you need to adjust your span correctly. It will solve your middle range issue.

What if the range of the transmitter is 0to40 and the span is 0 to 20 degrees
@InstrumentCalibration2 жыл бұрын
If the span is 0 to 20 degree, then we need to calibrate temp transmitter for 0-20 range. In this case, transmitter give 4mA at 0 degree and it will give 20mAat 20 degree

I believe that is the innate line resistance in the wires coming to and from power source and through the DMM.

Great informative video 👍 , thanks 💐. Question: 1- For the 2 wires between the resistance simulator & the transmitter - don’t their resistance affect the resistance used ? - what is the recommended wires length and specification so that their impact is minimal ?
