Cute video...Eloise is a doll. One suggestion...feed her a diet that does not have wheat. Her food does. The staining she gets is from yeast. The wheat she is eating turns into sugar which makes yeast. It may be why she is licking her feet the yeast is itchy.

I just got my bulldog pup on Friday & i absolutely love her. I didn't realize how much you have to care for them before I got her, but I don't think it would've change anything. I've always wanted a French & a English Bulldog. your video was very helpful & I will take notes. Thanks.

Just got our first bulldog a year ago after our cockapoo passed. I think it was a change but not much. They need different things but as long as you're commited they can be amazing dogs. Ours is so friendly and is just a sweetheart. Definitely a one of a kind breed

My family has a Olde English Bulldogge, yes, thats how its spelled, he is so precious, loves all humans who will cater to him, we all love him to pieces. Olde English is a bit taller than the English Bulldog, and has a little less health issues, either one, they are precious.

A few other common products to help with care are "Desitin", which is a baby diaper rash paste, and "Angel Eyes" which is a food additive. I would have to daily apply Desitin paste in the creases just below the eyes to prevent the moisture from the tears to cause a rash. "Angel Eyes" helps to break down the rust coloration caused by tears and saliva. I've always been a proponent of the Abady raw food diet. It's adult formula is low in protein which helps keep the dogs lean to prevent stress on joints. Diet is the most important thing for these animals, and if you skimp on what you feed them you'll pay threefold in vet bills and treatments.

We recused a boxer. After going through utube I came across your channel. Found out Lucy is a bulldog. She is absolutely hysterical ,house broke and is a runner which is what she had been doing, apparently. We had to put down my husband's companion pet and have a black lab and our home seemed so quiet. Now we have Lucy she's stubborn and so sweet. We are going to try-baby steps- to start cleaning ears, teeth, bath. Lucy sleeps on the bed, when she passes gas I have to pull the covers over my head. Thank you so much.
@MimasGee5 жыл бұрын
Hello all. I am Mia, Eloise's sister (my parents are the owners of her). This video was recorded and uploaded just months after we got her. To address some comments: Yes, no one should hold their bulldog as we did during her bath, it is harmful to their joints- an area of common problems for the breed. No- bulldogs, pit bulls, rotties, no breed is aggressive by nature. We made this video when we were 16 years old and basically got our information off of websites. This myth about the breeds is very unfortunate because it gives them a bad reputation based on fiction. Eloise to this day loves taking baths- when she wants to. She is very stubborn and as you can see in the video, made getting her into the bath a game. She does this now with getting her wrinkle mupirocin and ending walks too soon for her. She loved skateboarding since week one when she came across the old skateboard we had in the garage. She played with it with no coaxing or anything. She has gone through allergy testing and is allergic to ingredients in basically every dog food so she now eats an extremely high-end and closely monitored diet and drinks only filtered water. For those of you commenting on the video expressing your dreams of owning a bulldog, I caution you. The resources and time and vet bills and allergy medication that goes into the basic upkeep of a bulldog is worth it, but very necessary and should be planned for accordingly. Though my parents do not regret buying Eloise, they do wish they had done their research beforehand a little more thoroughly. Thankfully, they had the time and the money to accommodate all the vet visits, testing, and medicine. I ENCOURAGE you to do your research on any dog you adopt or buy but more so for you to go to your local shelter. Eloise's face is dried with a cloth multiple times a day. She gets salve in her wrinkles a few times a day. Her bottom is wiped every time she comes in from outside. Her ears are wiped twice a day. Her tail pocket (yes, this is a thing) needs to have old hair wiped out once a week. She gets professional baths once a month. This is just simple upkeep and sometimes all that is still not enough. We are constantly treating yeast infections and watery eyes. Our vet says she is one of the best cared for bulldogs she has seen- and still, we have $2,000 vet bills every once in a while. Thank you, everyone, for commenting on my friend's video for our high school project, but please note the above before commenting. Again, we were 16 and had no idea what we were talking about- or in for. I will try to watch the comments more closely from this point on- answering any questions you may have.

You say Bulldogs are aggressive? I've heard that unlike Pit Bull breeds, the English Bulldog has had all of the aggressiveness bred out of him, and he is now one of the gentlest. My own limited experience with Bulldogs has confirmed this impression. As far as I know, this breed does not have a bite record against either humans or animals.
@Mugenloo9 жыл бұрын
You are 100% correct, they are genuinely far too lazy to instigate any confrontation with humans or animals. Bulldogs are by far one of the best breeds with children and being brachiocephalic, the only thing you would ever have to worry about are the health risks. Bulldogs are perfect family dogs, dont get me started on Pits lol
@Fatelvis29 жыл бұрын
I wouldnt use the word aggressive but the wonderdog would bark and put up a fuzz when he didnt like someone or something then there was the time he jumped thru the screen door to chase the landscapers

+Ally A. Not true. Learn about breeding strategies first. Some breeds, including bulldog, are bred to be aggressive. In the past 300-400 years, it is bred for domestic use. A 16th century bulldog, for example, was impossible to be kept inside the house. The original pure bred bulldog, not rare, was one of the most violent breeds out there.
@smasher.3383 жыл бұрын
Aggressive nature is a proven genetic trait. So it is absolutely something given by birth.
@Lainer18 жыл бұрын
You can dip her paws for 5 minutes in an organic apple cider vinegar to kill the yeast build up in her paws. Another reason for them having itchy paws and discoloration. This helps to squelch breeding of yeast.
