I got my Pepper Bonsai today and it came in a tray with 2 candle wicks sticking out from the bottom, going into another tray which i can fill with water i assume. If i understand correctly this is to keep the humidity high and not to water it?
@ThatBonsaiGuy19 күн бұрын
It sounds like it could actually be used to better bottom-water the tree?

Thank you for your video can you please recommend a feed? I'm trying not to panic as alot of leaves on my chinese pepper falling!
@ThatBonsaiGuy Жыл бұрын
Don't panic, they tend to drop a lot of leaves in cold season. If there is no new growth right now I would not necessarily feed the tree. Once it bounces back in spring, normal liquid fertilizer has worked well for me until now.

Thank you for the video! I got this species a month ago, it’s my first bonsai tree and I have been struggling to find care info about it, so I really appreciate this video! Sadly, I think the tree is struggling. I got it as a gift for Christmas and had already planned a 2 week trip, so I left it at my friends place so she could water it. When I came back all the leaves had dried out and were falling out. The tree is not dead but it has no leaves, I live in a north facing room so I get no direct sunlight, I put it in my roommates room whenever I can, but it’s not convenient as I have to bother them. Do you have any tips on how I can help the tree get healthier and grow? Do you think a grow light would help?
@ThatBonsaiGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Pepper trees as a species react quite harshly on being moved too much. When I move my tree to another room it also drops lots of leaves. So, always moving the tree may not be the best solution. I think a grow light could help in this case!

Hello there! 🙂 I'm in total despair because of my pepper tree, would you be so kind to tell me is that normal, that it had lost all leaves about 2 weeks ago and the trunk is started to turn green now??!!?! 😱🙄 I keep nursing it, gets fertilizer, keep watering.... I only can hope this all change is because of wintertime, but this green colour scares me....😬 Thank you in advance for answering 🙏
@ThatBonsaiGuy2 жыл бұрын
Losing the leaves is definitely not uncommon, I am not so sure about the trunk turning green though 😬 Is it turning green from the base or from the branches? Does the trunk feel firm or is it somewhat mushy? I would recommend to stop fertilizing and also make sure not to overwater, as with no leaves it needs significantly less water (just don't let the soil dry out). If there are no signs of rot, I would not yet give up hope that it may rebounces!

@@ThatBonsaiGuy The trunk and the branches are firm and solid, yes. First I only saw green colour on the middle of the trunk, only one side. Now, it is already on the branches also.... it's spreading...like some Hulk virus...I don't know... 🤔 I pay attention to the soil, it is always moist, but from now on I stop fertilizing until new leaves are bursting. Hope they'll going to do so, please keep your fingers crossed for it 🤞🏻🤞🏻🙏 Thank you, thank you, thank you for your reply, be blessed! 😇

(If you water is 'hard') try to use rainwater for your plants.

What season can I repot?
@ThatBonsaiGuy5 ай бұрын
Normally indoor bonsai can be repotted all year round. If you want to stay on the safe side, do it in late winter or early spring.
