It's called phototropism when a plant grows towards light, fun little vocab for you. Also, most plants grow with radial symmetry and that's why they're so dreamy.
@whitefang2385 жыл бұрын
it is also worth pointing out that you actually SHOULDN'T rotate your plants. You might change them from one place to another when you have no choice( such as moving or giving a plant some sun when it gets none) but u should mark the vase where it points north and always position your plants in the same direction. They grow towards their most comfortable and ideal to be healthy and adapt to their environment this way. turning them hinders this natural process. So it would be better to correct that tip, it was a mistake

i've heard of people leaving tap water out in buckets for a couple of days so the chemicals evaporate... also the reason some people leave pitchers of water out for drinking, I'm currently in the market for a ficus benjamina.. have a great day and workout
@123marksalot5 жыл бұрын
J M I don’t think that’s how it works, if anything by doing that you get a higher concentration of chemicals because it’s the water that evaporates not the chemicals. If you are concerned about chemicals in your water I would suggest getting a water filter for your tap or a pitcher that filters the water.
@JustJ0nathan5 жыл бұрын
If you water your plants with tap water, I would fill a pitcher and let it sit for 24 hours to allow the chlorine to evaporate. This evaporation occurs because chlorine is a volatile solute. However, other minerals and chemicals like fluoride will not evaporate. Personally, I prefer to water my plants with distilled water. 🙂
@xxxxlollypopxxx5 жыл бұрын
Chlorine does evaporate off, as others have said. Personally I water mine with the water from my dryer, since it’s distilled water and I’d just be throwing it away anyway
@loliatamuno52624 жыл бұрын
@@xxxxlollypopxxx true, but because of this, chloramine, which doesn't evaporate, is also added to tap water. I use water from my fish tanks when doing water changes to water my plants. If I don't have that, I do use tap water and hope for the best. Nothing is dead, yet!

Wow this is the most helpful and useful video I've seen. Always been a fan of growing plants but they have always died in my care. That hasn't stopped me from trying or learning. I had a palm plant for 3 years before it died, never knew the sudden death. After watching this video, it had definelty given me more confidence to continue my love for plants. It has also make me aware that I'm at least doing some things right, one of them that surprised me the most was repotting after purchasing them. I used to do this when I first started but then I figured to let them stay longer in their nursery pots- especially because of my lack of commitment and work life. Anyways, today was the day I decided to repot my store bought plants from their nursery pots to an appropriate size pot, I noticed this and took action when their roots sprouted out from the bottom holes of the nursery pot. At the moment I'm struggling keeping my clematis from dying 😣

You dont read moisture meter right after you stick it in the soil. You need to keep it there for 10 minutes and take a reading after that, then remove it. You will be surprised how different the reading is after 10 minutes. For example , if I wanted to take a reading right away most of the time it would be around 7. After 10 minutes it shows 3. Which means plant needs to be watered

Tip for gnats/fruit flies (I just learned this! But it works cause I had already put crushed glass in a pot for decoration)you can add rocks or gravel (or whatever) to the top of then soil and then the larvae can’t get out when they hatch, and we’ll, they die! Also for mealy bugs... so easy: I spray water and either rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on them and it kills hem INSTANTLY (and doesn’t hurt the plants at all! ...At least none of the plants I sprayed!) BUT IF YOU DO spray, keep them out of the sun for a day or two so the leaves don’t get sunburn from the residual alcohol/peroxide.

I have several acres so I can do this. I'm guilty of fertilizing my yard as well as keeping and away after having an ant problem. This all shocked me. Another thing to make sure you do, atleast for the plants that are sensitive to too much water, put in a layer of hydro-pellets at the bottom of the pot. The pellets will soak up exces water and graduately feed it back to the soil

Beautiful, thank you for sharing! Are you able to share an example of a recipe for potting soil for pothos? I know some plants need different things in the potting soil but it would be so helpful to learn ratios for plants like pothos, heart leaf philo, etc 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

you can eat the oxalis too, and their flowers! Super tart and sweet.

I totally take my plants out of the pot while plant shopping, Can't tell you how many times I brought home root rot and my plants kept dying thinking it was me when they had really bad infected roots! Lol, I'm sure plant owners understand that we like checking the whole plant out before buying since you can tell alot from the soil and roots rather than just the pot. Some mites sure do like to hide in there so, other than that tip...I kinda like your video babe. Lol 🌱💚 Good job!

Thank you for the tips, I also have a collection of plants mainly peppers but I also have some Jade's, Epiphyllum's, Geranium's, Acer's and some others I don't know the names of. I usually show their progress each month on my channel.

Loved the video. Building my own little jungle and I really want to get some kind of propagation station in my house. My favorite is probably the Calathea Lancifolia Insigne. It was my first large plant ever and it is also one that opens and closes. Happy greetings 😊

For the two people that liked this comment, i found out what it is. It’s called a rhaphidophora tetrasperma or some people call them “mini monstera”
