Its honestly amongst caudex royalty- those insanely regal leaflets 😍😍

It's stunning isn't it? If it could have 50 of them I would 😂 I really hope they become more accessible and the price drops in the future 🤞

Thank you for your detailed video about this caudex and its care. I can't get over the fact of how many times you spoke about the watering and I will definitely definitely remember that. Mine is just 2 weeks old and I am equally worried about over watering. However your video has been pretty helpful. Thanks

Hi, Thanks for sharing. I have this plant but it has already got root but have not sprouted yet. Should I water the plant?Thanks
@FlorenceOzkan Жыл бұрын
I would shove it under a dome or in a bag for some humidity- that seems to spur them on a bit! But make sure to still have some form of air flow!

Thanks for your video! I just got one 2 weeks ago. But the leaves are no longer opening/closing when the sun comes out. One leaf just dropped. I've not watered it since I got it as the seller said they recently watered it. Could it be signs of dormancy since the leaves are no longer opening and Autumn is kicking in (Netherlands)? Any advice would be appreciated :)

It might be in a bit of shock? Do you live in a well lit area- this can confuse them a bit in knowing the difference between day and night... It could also be a watering problem! Or alternatively dormancy. I know that's so vague but at this time of year maybe it is dormancy showing its first signs!

Hi! Great video! Just got mine - yey 🎉 It has no leaves, but I am not sure if it has been watered or fertilized after the dormancy.. The base is a bit soft some places. So started wondering if it could be rotten already? Should I take it back?
@FlorenceOzkan2 жыл бұрын
I personally would take it back if it’s a big mushy already…

Hi..would u prune off the entire stem if the majority leaves got damaged? I got the plant from the seller in such a condition and wondering if the plant responds well to pruning..
@FlorenceOzkan2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I’d leave them on even though they might not look the prettiest: you’ll be starving that caudex of energy even if the stems do die back. Hope that helps!

Hi, the leaves bleached and fell off, My guess is too much heat? What should I do?

Mine has done the same and I put it down to just being old leaves. Have you got new growth coming through?

How often should you water during dormancy ?

Not at all!

@@FlorenceOzkan I just received my bulb . After planting it the caudex, should I only water every two weeks for it to sprout ?
@FlorenceOzkan2 жыл бұрын
@@nancypham9975 hi, I personally wouldn’t. I’d plant it, have it under a dome with some water in a small bowl to keep it humid and wait for it to sprout before watering
@nancypham99752 жыл бұрын
@@FlorenceOzkan thank you for your speedy response! Going to go buy a dome now
@FlorenceOzkan2 жыл бұрын
@@nancypham9975 no worries! Let me know how you get on! They tend to respond more to humidity (a plant cabinet could work too if you already have one) and warmth!

Your understanding of the latin name is a little off. Phyllanthus are so named because the flowers emerge along the leaves, not because the leaves look like flowers. The leaves do not look like flowers. Also, the leaves are not light responsive. They are more incredible than that. The leaves shut and open every day with their own timing, nothing to do with what time the lights come on..... which you will see for yourself if you grow them under lights.

Sorry if I sound pedantic. I just reread what I wrote. I’m in awe of my Phyllanthus. She is dormant now and I can’t wait for her to come back each summer

They MUST be allowed to go dormant. Its not a choice..... just like sleeping is not optional for animals.
@FlorenceOzkan2 жыл бұрын
I don’t disagree, but every so often they don’t go dormant (similar to other caudex/corns)
