Hi Ann. I am a beginner with succulents. Bought around 13, 2 months ago, in November. I am from Blore. All are alive but I don't find them thriving or fresh looking or putting out new growth. They are alive but look listless and dull. I have used gritty mix ...full of pumice, perlite, charcoal chips, coarse sand and very little of potting soil. I don't water them too frequently, in the past 2 months of having them, watered them only twice. It was peak winter here in Blore. They get light..but not direct sunlight. They are kept in my balcony which is quite well ventilated. I wonder how I can speed up their growth and make them look happy and full of life. Any thing I am doing wrong, pls do let me know.

Ideally, you would want to keep the lights on for 12 - 15 hours to Mimic standard day length. Indian winters to spring are the best time to repot and propagate succulents.

Thank you so much for the info Sis 💕...being a new Succulent beginner...less than a year I started growing Succulents.....till now I don't have a pblm with Succulents though I own a very few waiting for the winter to buy🙈.. Graptoveria Fred Ives also need to be included for a succulent beginners...I guess this Succulent can grow with high humidity n hot doesn't care...though they r now in dormancy period... grows fast.

Thanks Ann I wish you have made this video atleast 3 months before . I have managed to kill all most 90% of my succulents. They were just fine in winter but in summers I failed to keep them alive. I am afraid of loosing so many plants at a time ..... don’t know whether I am gonna purchase them again or not.

@geeksofgreen i am from kerala, here for 1 month its intermittently raining and more rain is yet to coming. Most of my jelly been seedum plants are dying due to stem rot and there healthy leafs are not getting sprout after somany tries. I mix river sand + cocopeat + coal + perlite as media. The leafs which sprouted are also dying after sometimes. What to do with jelly seedum. And here string of tears are not growing. More than 10 pieaces i tried and failed what to do?

what grow lights will depend on what plants you have and on what exposure you already have. If you want to keep aroids or low light plants simple tube lights placed close to the plant should suffice. If you want to grow vegetative ones you might have to buy full spectrum lights which are available on amazon if you put in these key words

Most type of plants can be grown. You have to be careful with shade loving plants that may burn in the noon sun.

@@bijay_b This is what I do with my succulents Light: About 2 to 3 hours of morning light(avoid afternoon harsh light) and bright indirect light throughout the rest of the day. All of them get good air flow always(this is the key) Water: Use a chop stick in the soil(sometimes top layers are dry and bottom might be moist) water only when the soil is completely dry till the bottom. Make sure the soil dries after watering. Place it under fan for few hours if possible(that is what I do 😁)
