This is an excellent example of how Nutn’ keeps coming up with fresh content, even after more than a decade of videos. Something to consider for left hand gun use is to practice controlling your bike with the throttle hand only. Being able to shift up and down without the clutch is a vital skill as well as mastering the front brake. The only thing you won’t be able to do is come to a complete stop and take off again. That’s about the only time I use the clutch anymore.

@Dennisthemenace40 me being a lefty I think it's an advantage to a degree if I ever had to shoot from the bike. Pretty positive it would never happen but fun to think about

People carry firearms for things that are mostly unforeseen. If you are getting road rage and you stop off to fill your bike up you can't really get away really quickly. Guns are for the unknown.

I think a Fanny pack, like a tight chute product is a pretty solid choice. The magnetic holster system can accommodate basically all models of guns, you can have it in the back when riding a sport bike with a one piece leather suit, or in the front with standard seating position and when you stop it’s easy to take off your gear and blend in with everyone else and stay concealed carry the whole time.

The Safariland is great, but check out the Tek-Mount holster system. Similar concept but you can very easily rotate your holster 360 degrees on the fly, so you can cant it way forward and lock it in place to be upright while riding.

Pepper gel is a better option over spray in my opinion. Its not as "area effective", it requires some degree of accuracy, but it nearly eliminates any blow back unless youre literally locked up and face to face with someone.

On a motorcycle, crashing is orders of magnitude more likely than needing to defend with a firearm, so I don't want a pistol on my torso. In a crash, it could break ribs and otherwise cause a lot more trauma than the crash alone would. I need to find a way to keep it on my leg in a leg bag or in an open-carry holster.

I just carry my HK P30 or P30sk in my regular appendix iwb and it works fine. I don’t put a lot of stock in the idea of shooting weak hand and throttling right hand, I’m just not going to do it. It’s more for when I get off the bike or maybe when I’m stopped and then I have to make the decision to draw and shoot or get the hell out of there like you mentioned

@@sociopathmercenary if you could clutch and throttle with the same hand that would be much better. If you are stopped and a dude jumps out and tries to kill you, how are you going to shoot with your left and throttle away with your right hand without using the clutch? It just doesn’t make sense

They are imply a scenario where you’d be moving at cruising speed, while firing off shots and continuing to throttle away. Certainly possible, but only 1 scenario, and I think it’s a little crazy to give up your strong had preference for just 1 scenario that you probably could just throttle out of anyway

I bought a 2014 KTM 1190 on your recommend nutn! Haven't found a good way to carry on the bike for my particular application which is bike camping on severe trails. I fall a couple times per weekend trip and always worry I will fall on the weapon. I'm pretty much always in deep wilderness and the probability of armed conflict is as close to zero as it can be. Having said that I have been camping in bear country and would be nice to have some firepower. Maybe carry in the luggage unloaded and then gas it up when I get to camp.

I live and ride in Dallas-Ft. Worth. Urbanized, overcrowded, and chock full of stressed out, aggressive, stupid, pissy drivers. And then there’s the crime and daily road rage shootings. So yes, I carry a full house 1911 10mm. I don’t know any riders around here who don’t carry. For me, it’s a Galco vertical shoulder rig for EDC. Highly concealable, comfortable, and allows fast access to the pistol. If there’s any downside to this method of carry, it’s that I can only access the pistol with my throttle hand. But as long as my hand’s on the throttle I’m gonna boogie away from trouble if at all possible (as you rightly recommend). I also use a high level of discretion as to when, where, and how I ride, which keeps me out of trouble. I refuse to get into pissing matches. I’m out to ride, have fun, and survive. I’ve noticed that many riders around here are open carrying. That’s all well and good, but some jackass is going to try to make your life miserable. By the way, I have that same Klim jacket. Rock solid. As for thigh carry, I don’t necessarily dislike the idea, but I think losing the gun is highly likely if you go to the tarmac. Stay safe out there, ride SMART, and always be prepared.

Whereas most states don't allow filtering, maneuverability is a bit less a factor; better to always give space in most situations. Since defensive use of handgun will likely place you in an immovable or stopped situation, strong side defensive use is most likely. Most motocross also carry strongside IIRC.

Been Subbed, All the way back when your channel was small. I was just talking to my son in law. We thought you had retired. We can't find your content anywhere. I just found you, telling my son in law to buy a Browning BLR, older USA Model in 243. So, I searched and you popped up. He's a fan of your's as well. You don't respond to any of your viewers really. I know that. All good. I hope you still read comments. Hope you're doing well. Watching your BLR Video now. I can't believe you've still got less than 1m subs. I spent 12 of my 20 years in the Border Patrol patrolling on ATV's. I've seen lots of injuries, but never anything specific resulting from a firearm digging into a hip, mostly head and extremity injuries. I have seen a pistol grip ripped completely off, with the rest of the gun still in the retention holster though.

I've been riding bike since the 70s. But lane splitting always bothers me. Years ago a friend of mine (passenger in a car at the time) opened a car door while stuck in traffic to dump out a cup. A motorcycle who was splitting lanes hit the door at high speed. While the motorcyclist only got minor injuries. She wasn't so fortunate. So please split lanes at a speed that you can stop.
