@ShortysSkateSeries3 жыл бұрын
Towards the end of the video I show skating forwards and doing a hand plant with a little jump. You want to focus on landing in the stance you would when landing a cartwheel. It's mainly to try and get muscle memory and confidence in landing on wheels.

Great tutorial! I can do the cartwheel on skates on a flat surface by pushing off/rolling off from my leading foot toe-stops. On the ramp, do you still push off from your toe-stops on the transition before entering the cartwheel? Thanks 🙏🏻
@ShortysSkateSeries3 жыл бұрын
No, it's more that I push off my front wheels instead of toe stop. I think pushing off your toe stop might impact your momentum if it happened to catch in the ramp.
@daftfung3 жыл бұрын

Hey shorty!!! So.. ive been hitting a brick wall lately. I can do a pretty neat and tidy cartwheel on flat ground. No skates. As soon as I put my skates on. Everytime I try and cartwheel just on the ground.. I fall to my forearms. Like my arms cannot hold up my weight+the skates or something. My friend. Who is MUCH tinier than I am and *probably* not as strong.. can do a perfect cartwheel(on toe stops) on flat ground. And I'm likeeeeee ready to scream. Because I want to do this so bad. But I can't seem to hold myself up !!

HIII! This is so good and ur Tutorials are amazing! One question, though. What skates are light weight and durable?? I’ve got really heavy rollerblades, so i don’t think that it’s possible with them
@ShortysSkateSeries28 күн бұрын
I have blades and the weight it comparable to my roller skates as once you add the slide block and grind trucks it's about the same. I also use 2.3" grind trucks so if you use 3" the set up would probably be heavier. It's totally doable in roller blades as the ramp helps you over. I'll try and find a video
@ShortysSkateSeries28 күн бұрын
I could only find this old link of an aerial in blades (at the end). I find it’s actually because you can roll off the toe wheel. instagram.com/reel/CPbCDgtBx-Y/?igsh=MTk2Y2luNmxudW8xbQ==

Do you think a person should be able to do a one-handed cartwheel or aerial off-skates before attempting it in a ramp like with the regular cartwheel?

I want to attempt this so bad but my Candi GRL Carlin Women's skates seem too heavy when I cartwheel on the floor. Any advice?
@ShortysSkateSeries3 жыл бұрын
It's easier to do when on a ramp and the curve of the ramp helps with the rotation. If you can do a cartwheel pretty well without skates you could practice the form off skates on the ramp to get use to the body position and then once you are feeling confident try it with skates on. But start low and slow and then look to build up to height.
@Hanna-cq9df2 жыл бұрын
i tried to do a cartwheel, but the heavy ness of the skates absolutely destroyed me. It seems that nobody else really has that problem though. How do you get used to the weight of the skates when doing a cartwheel?
@ShortysSkateSeries2 жыл бұрын
I have heard quite a few skaters have issues with the weight of skates. But with doing a cartwheel on the transition/ ramp is actually easier than on flat ground because the ramp helps with momentum. The more you skate, the more you will get use to weight.
@Hanna-cq9df2 жыл бұрын

@saraescamilla13593 жыл бұрын
do u think it’s necessary to know how to cartwheel without skates, or can i learn everything in the ramp? 🥺
@ShortysSkateSeries3 жыл бұрын
It's helpful to have the basic understanding of body positioning of cartwheeling without skates, but the ramp will help you with momentum to help your leg over.
