Athar, the content you provide is inextricably illustrious. Thank you for all you do. There aren't many Sculptors who create material on this platform. With that being said; would you please make a video on "Lettering"? Thank you very much for your time. I hope you have a great rest of your day.

Thank you! I really appreciate your kind words and support. I am currently working on a series of online stone carving courses and lettering is among one of them. But because you asked, I will make a shorter video about lettering to view publicly here on my channel. Meanwhile you can find some great ones here on KZbin. One of my favorites is this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYPWpWyqrqtlhtU Enjoy!

What type of stone was that? What do you think of the granite boxes in the serapeum in Egypt, the finished ones with mirrored surfaces, could you carve them using these methods. The example of Greek sculptures reminds me of the Egyptian sculptures that are carved in diorite and are smooth and almost mirrored surface. Would those be possible with these methods? Im not sure if Egyptians had these type of materials for their chisels either. Thank you, great video.

I couldn't find an answer for whether or not a stone carvers tool set is effective as a wood carving substitute. I understand that since stone is a harder and denser material it should be easier on porous wooden surfaces. Please reply if it's effective or not. Thanks ahead.
@AtharJaber2 жыл бұрын
Stone carving tools are not effective for woodcarving. They each require different steel types and different sharpness. Wood carving tools must be razor blade sharp as they cut into wood while stone carving tools break the stone and therefore must not be as sharp.

Hey Athar I have been seeing an increasing amount of coverage on ancient stonework on megalithic structures and in Egyptian architecture and stone pots. What is your take on the very hard stone vases that are found in Egypt? Just to clarify I am not talking about the later works by the Egyptians themselves but the granite or corundum specifically.

I have a jasper stone about 3 square inches and I want to carve it. Is this too small to hand carve? I want to make a ring.

Where did you buy these tools? I would like to purchase them.
@AtharJaber4 жыл бұрын
I bought them at a sculpture tools supplier in The Netherlands. Here's the link: www.beeldhouwwinkel.nl/en/ If you order anything, please tell them I've sent you in the comments section before final payment.

could you carve a quarried block of stone relatively flat by hand with a mallet, pointer, flat & bushing chisels?

Are you asking if I can do it, or if I can make a video about it?

Can i carve rough agate with these chiesels friend?
@AtharJaber3 жыл бұрын
Agate is incredibly hard, almost three times as hard as marble. You can try but it would be very difficult to shape it in a controlled way and you will need to sharpen your chisels very often. If you do try, let me know how it goes. Very curious myself.
