That last one is called the Nottingham cast in England. There’s also a cast where you hold the hook line and pull creating a bend in the rod so when you let go it flicks the line out. Great vid by the way. Really instructive.

Hey bro god bless. Really enjoy your cpin vids I recently started to centerpin and ofc the hardest part of pinning is the cast. This video really helped me especially the no name cast which is all I really need cus my lake Ontario tribes are no more than 30 ft across.. But FYI I found a another video long after learning the no name cast here. It actually has a name it is called the single loop cast and if you do it from the second eye it's called the double loop cast.. Hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas.. Happy pinning bro thanks for a great channel all the best...

I'm pretty sure that I remember that one cast being called a double loop cast. Glad to see a good informative video on multiple different casts. Just like anything in life it all takes practice and time and eventually most people can get the wallis cast. It took me the better part of a year when I first started fly fishing to really get my casts dialed in correctly and the wallis cast took me a few hours to where I feel comfortable with it, but I still go back to the side cast when I really need some distance.

With the Wallis cast if hold the weight between two fingers creating tension to the rod tip and release when you swing out you get an even better cast and the correct way to Wallis cast. I usually use a tiny shot about 4" from the hook to hold rather than the bulk shot. Blessings from the river itchin in the UK. Nice to see younger guys keeping the old ways alive.

Thanks for doing this, I have been float fishing with centerpin for a few years, but yet I often default to side cast and get irate with the line twist. I will have to get out into a field and just practice these more the Wallace and BC look the most simple. BC for the fact you can really chuck it out. I also see guys doing like a modified over hand Wallace cast as well instead from the side. If I can reduce ALL line twist, this will help. Again, thanks very much for doing this!
@OutpourOutdoors
@OutpourOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Man so awesome comment like this is why I make this videos man. Yeah the line twist drove me insane!! Especially at the colder times of the year but man I really love both cast! The bc cast is sooooo effective and if you use like an 11gram float it’s really easy to chuck it out as far as you need. The key is letting the line get going before you swing it out. That momentum is key. Thanks for stopping by brother.

I am in like my 3rd year with a Centerpin and I side cast, this year is my first really successful year with Chinkook. Did have line twist but it never seemed to affect my ability to hook play and land fish. Started with that same reel you have but upgraded to a very cool and simply amazing reel, a bit over the top but the only pin I will ever need. Purchased a BER reel from Ontario Canada it was freaking amazing to use.

I say we should call that "unnamed cast" the "dual-pinch" or "dual-pinch-pitch". I say that because in Bass fishing, grabbing, or pinching, the line in one location and throwing out is called a pitch. .. so in my mind, grabbing the main line in two places/ locations & throwing out (casting) calls for the title "dual-pinch" or "dual-pinch pitch/cast". Great video dude, you have one of the best attitudes of any salmonid fisherman on KZbin that I have seen thus far. I hope you like the cast name idea! Don't be hesitant to name cast yourself! .. Don't be narcissistic and name the cast after yourself though, lol. We 21st century humans can be more creative than that!! Tight lines. - Ryan W.

I just got out with my new centerpin combo today learning to cast. This video definitely helped the learning curve. As pinning isn’t like fly fishing, casting a spinning rod nor a baitcaster. I can tell I’m going to have a good time trout fishing this spring. Can you recommend float type and weight for trout? It seems like everyone likes different types of floats.
@OutpourOutdoors
@OutpourOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
So awesome brother thank you for stopping by the channel. So glad to hear it helped. Your float size all depends on the water fishing. Keep in mind if the waters really clear fish might spook from the float. Also keep in mind the bigger the float the easier it’s going to be the cast. So for a new person I usually recommend 11 g usually can’t go wrong with an 11 gram float! Brand is completely up to you I like the blood run floats also the raven floats. Had some videos floating around the channel explaining all that stuff if you want to go searching for that. Hope that helps Man tightlines

Hi, good video. For your info, the fourth cast in your video is called a Nottingham cast. There is a 'winding in' technique that you may find useful called 'batting'. It's where you spin the spool, to retrieve line, using the palm of your left hand to slap on the underside of the reel. It's faster than cranking when you are just retrieving your tackle.

Those Okuma are nice reels aren't they. I have three VT1002's fitted to 10'/1.5lb tc specimen rods that I use for legering for species like barbel & chub (a feeder mounted bolt rig style on a leadcore leader with a 12"-48" hook length depending on situation. Rod tips high to minimise line drag). I've not seen videos of people legering with pins in the US, but it's fairly common here in the UK. Trout & Salmon are considered game fish here and generally fished for on traditional fly tackle and involve a separate licence and permissions. The coarse fish species we tend to use centrepins for range from silvers like roach/dace etc up through barbel & chub then up to larger species like carp. Centrepins are used mainly on rivers & streams but some of us enjoy using them on stillwaters too, especially for specimen fish. I use a couple of JW Young reels for trotting floats in rivers as they have very lightweight spools which allow lighter tackle to draw line easily. I'm not sure if they are available in the US but worth checking out if they are.
