People sleep on spincasters as "just for kids" but they're great reels for most fishing.
@FishingwithNat9 ай бұрын
They are user-friendly for people of all ages. Once they get comfortable with a spincaster, they may choose to move up to a spinning reel for more casting distance and accuracy.

I would bet the majority of rods are fished with spin casters. Not saying they're the best, but they probably catch a lot of fish annually.

This, is SUPER helpful. Thanks man. Also, what’s the + and -? Suuuuuper new to fishing?
@FishingwithNat7 ай бұрын
The + and - are for the drag system. Turn it toward the + for tighter drag and toward the - for less drag. The amount of drag is the amount of force that needs to be applied by a fish before it pulls extra line out of the reel. This needs to be set appropriately for the strength of line you are using on the reel. If you are using 4 pound line, you don't want your drag to be set for more than 4 pounds, or your line will break before the reel will let out any extra line.

What does the drag mean?
@FishingwithNat7 ай бұрын
The drag system allows line to be pulled out by a large fish before the line breaks. Adjusting the drag properly is important to make sure that is appropriately tight according to the strength of your line.

My problem is I have my bobber and swivel too far apart so I’m just up here swinging around a good three feet of line when I cast.
@FishingwithNat5 ай бұрын
If you have more than a couple feet of line below your bobber, you might want to switch to a slip bobber for easier casting. Check out my quick 4-minute video on types of bobbers and tips/tricks. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWOudXebaqqDlaM

@FishingwithNat6 ай бұрын

So you DO switch hands from cast to retrieve! I've argued this point with a friend of mine, he insists it should be cast left handed. So for a right handed person, it is normal to cast right handed then switch hands - correct?!?
@FishingwithNat8 ай бұрын
Yes, most right-handed people will cast a spincast or baitcast reel and switch hands to start reeling with their right hand. BUT, both spincast and baitcast reels can be purchased with the handle on either side, so if you prefer reeling with your left hand as a typical right-handed person would with a spinning reel, you can still do that. Spincast reel handles are usually interchangeable left to right, but baitcasters are either left-retrieve or right-retrieve. You can't move the handle on those.
