That is some great fishing Bro, Smallmouths fight above their weight class, and are a joy to catch. Kids would love this, they get to play in a creek to catch bait, then go catch some of the best fighting fish around, they would turn off the computer, and head to the river, haha.
@truenorthangler4 жыл бұрын
Those fish fight hard. No joke. Great double to start the show. I’ve started salmon fishing here on the south shore of Lake O. They are getting close. Can’t wait for the salmon season, I’m sure you as well brother. Great video, nice trap you got there and excellent way to catch bait.

True North Angler thanks man, they fight hard but nothing like a salmon or steelhead. I can’t wait.

in ct is there a lot of areas i could ride my motorcycle to with my gear in a backpack and just hike around and fish legally? and is it tough to catch largemouth there? i might have to move there in a year.. nice double man. that was sick.. how cold does it get there lol. its a grind here to catch fish.. i avg one fish every 3-4 hours lol.. but the catch 22 there is hogs.. though we have florida strain largemouth here.. and i think there is northern strain.. so that will suck for me but still the areas ive seen out there look like better fishing then here. whats your biggest largemouth there? i dont really know my pb.. but i got a few hogs on my channel if you want to check it.. later man.
@Handberrydea4 жыл бұрын
jdogg661420 we have some hogs here. My largest ct bass was in the 5 pound range but they get larger. It can take 3-4 hours to get a largemouth if you’re not using live bait. The fishing is much more better in the spring though. Also, we do have plenty of road for you to bike out here. What state are you from?
@dragonbob29244 жыл бұрын
Ct has a lot of variety in fish and some good fishing if you know when to go. Largemouth fishing is good if you have a boat or kayak. Unfortunately, a lot of water and ponds are private. We have hot summers (90+) and cold winters (25-10). I've seen people with experience do very well largemouth fishing. I personally think that our smallmouth and striped bass fishing is much better.
@jdogg6614204 жыл бұрын
@@Handberrydea sorry i didnt see reply.. im in southern california. i just ride my mini motorcycle to castaic lake. its the closest water to me here. i get about one hog a year here.. my best is just under 10lb though i didnt have a scale i measured it it was like 25 or 26" length and 16" girth.
@jdogg6614204 жыл бұрын
@@dragonbob2924 ya fishing is better here on boat and yak too.. but with largies i notice they are catchable from the banks a lot easier then most fish.. well largemouth and smallies.. the striper though i caught maybe 4-6 of them on shore here and like 400 or so largemouth in same time frame(i think im on my 4th year here).. though i dont do any bait and wait or live bait.. we can only dipnet shad here and i rarely see them from the banks. the smallies are kinda new to this lake so i have got them but my biggest is only a little better then a 2 maybe a 3.

I have a few things: 1. Those are giants. Good job. 2. What size hook are you guys using? 3. Have you caught any other species in that spot? I've never fished the Housatonic and have never caught a Smallie, and would like to know.
