I do want to say, I started playing last night and I did manage to catch the level 40 alpha Rapidash while still in the tutorial section. I talked enough to Akari where she wasn't in the way or holding me back from exploring any more, but was still standing around waiting for me to talk to her. I ran around leveling up my Pokemon and just catching as many new ones until I ran into that alpha Rapidash. At first I avoided it, until I managed to get my Pokemon into the 15 to 20 level range, then decided to try and take it on. The X was there in regards to catching it, so I just opted to fight it. After it wiped the floor with 3 of my Pokemon, I panicked a bit and tossed a regular ball at it in battle while it was at red health, and managed to catch it. I ended my night on that, and I'm now the proud of owner of a Rapidash that I can't command at this point in time.

Started playing the game about 2 weeks ago going in completely blind, im now shy of just 2 non legendaries to complete the pokedex for captured pokemon and i did all alpha pokemon in combat style. Watching this i can't believe how much fun and convenience i missed by not learning about this part of the game beforehand. Had i known that the cakes made THAT MUCH of a difference, i'd have gone for that method all the way.
@hockeyhacker97 Жыл бұрын
Now define "complete the pokedex" because there are three different levels of "completion", first way which I don't think most people would consider complete in this game is just catching them all once but that is it, second way would be getting rank 10 in all the pokemon getting the ball icon by them all which some people might consider complete, or the third and most time consuming way is maxing out each and every way to research switching that ball icon from being a plain old ball icon to being a shiny ball icon with the research rank of "perfect" when you check the dex. I can see reaching rank 2 of 3 of complettion of just balling all the pokemons entries up to rank 10 in a few weeks, but I would think that true completion of getting rank "perfect" on all of them would take a fair bit longer... judging by the fact that it sound like you didn't do much stealth I am guessing that you just mean getting ball icons by all pokemon entries and not getting shiny ball icons by all of them. It is one thing to get rank 10 on say Geodude via just catching 6 of them, defeating 4 of them 2 with grass moves and 2 with water moves to get rank 10 and the ball icon by it, but it is an entirely different thing to 25, 5 of which have to be heavy, defeat at bare minimum 40 20 with grass move kills and 20 with water move kills, see roll out 20 times, have it spawn from an ore deposit 25 times, and evolve 3 of them to get the ball icon replaced with a shiny ball icon with the word perfection on it. Let alone do that level of completion 242 times. While I don't plan on completing it any time soon my goal for the game isn't to beat the main story (though I will have to to get the legendaries) and it isn't to rank 10 all pokedex items, no no no, it is to get a shiny ball by all pokedex entries for true completion and not just technical completion. I have not really been "yes give me more of this please" with a pokemon game since Gold/Silver after gen 2 it kinda turned into the monster collecting version of Madden via minor minor updates with the same 2 games every generation. This was the first Pokemon game in a long time that I actually want to truly 100% even if it takes me a long time slowly chipping away at it, it is just such a disappointment that the next gen pokemon went back to copy/paste Madden style Pokemon of old, I am hoping that is just both games were made at the same time by two different teams and so S/V team hadn't seen Legends when they made theirs because I haven't wanted any more old school Pokemon in a very long time, but the huge shift of "gotta Stockholm syndrome them all into submission by beating them within an inch of their life and then forcing them into slavery" to a more scientific studying standpoint even if you do beat half of them to an inch of their life to give them Stockholm to get them to serve you, you are doing it in a more scientific way that just makes way more sense lore wise and makes for more fun game play mechanic wise other than the goal of being the number one " 'roster' fighter in the world" because let's be fair the original lore of capture creatures and make them fight is just glorified "roster" fighting. And no I am not saying all the games since Gold/Silver have been bad, I am just saying they haven't really had that hook to make me want to play more, they were all good standalone games, where you could play any of them and enjoy yourself, but they are terrible games as far as making you want to play every single game and every single story because you play one you have played them all.

Regarding the Star locked alphas: It seems once you've got the Stars to progress to the next area (not necessarily that you've UNLOCKED the next area, just that you have the stars to allow the guards to let you travel there once you do unlock it) you'll be able to catch the Alphas that are part of the regular spawn pool, like the Rapidash. If the pokemon spawns there normally its catchable as soon as you're a high enough star level (usually one or two stars over the access limit) for others, like a certain snorlax, you actually have to be 3 stars or higher (in a 0-1 star zone) to successfully catch it, regardless of strats or items
@kctrooper242 жыл бұрын

@AnHRTBus2 жыл бұрын
@@kctrooper24 you're not bad, Snorlax actually has great defensive stats in this game, plus as an alpha it's boosted a bit further. I think it's moveset is very well balanced for a wild pokemon as well. it's one of the toughest early alphas i've come across.

There's a more expensive way to catch alphas as well, I use feather balls and it turns out the max range a feather ball is able to catch a pokemon is further than the aggro range/sight range of MOST alphas. Therefore you can stay crouched out of the alpha's aggro range and in the range of the feather ball and spam the feather balls until you catch them. 1st ball, if unsuccessful, they run away and turn around everytime, unless you are really close they just fight you, just take a few steps toward the alpha to readjust (you can check by throwing some balls as you take steps forward until it catches instead of bonking them). After that, as long as you are at that sweet spot, they wont move at all. They will just sit there and stare at you with a "!" then "..." icon. The only alpha that has insane detection range that I've found was Garchomp, every other alpha has not detected me at max featherball range. (This is expensive because this can cost alot of feather balls until you are successful, most I've used on one alpha was 26 balls, sometimes you might not even need to use more than 5)

You don't need to go into the menu to throw pokéballs during combat. Your ZR works in combat just like outside, meaning you just go through your items with L/R and throw a pokéball, or hit X, cycle through your 'mons with L/R and then ZR does a switch.

I've noticed the less likely the catch is to be sucessful, the more it shakes and the higher it goes, like I noticed in othr videos most pokeballs only shake once and barely lift off the ground on low level common pokemon but bigger pokemon get 2 shakes or three, and from those 3 shakes videos I've noticed half break free, for example, lucario in this video shake 2 times and the symbol was green, but blissey and heracross only once.

I’ve just been treating catching like the regular games, I use false swipe & thunder wave. It works fairly well but it has its flaws, mainly ghost types & recoil moves. Plus Pokémon hit so hard so I’m forced to lose half my team each time I want an alpha. So after failing to catch a torterra a few times due to recoil I went to the item storage to use these items for the first time. It worked perfectly, even with the first couple of pokeballs failing the smoke bomb did its job.

Another thing I didn’t see the game explain. Pertains to battling multiple Pokémon at the same time. 1, you can infact catch a Pokémon even though there are 2 still fighting! You don’t have to knock one out first. Secondly, you can choose which Pokémon you’re targeting by pressing L/R! It’ll switch targets. So you can weaken them both into red with strong style, and then use agile and take them both out with like a quick attack. Very useful. And unless I skipped it, I don’t think the game tells you that. (Or it tells you later on)

Imagine a game like this, but as an MMO… a massive world, so you wouldn’t be running into 20 people every step, but when you do you can push one button and force them into battle! As if YOU are the trainers on a route. If neither of you trigger it, nothing happens and you can just run on by. But you could push a button to “lock eyes”. How cool would that be?! And the game of course would only match you with trainers of your level, and that would mean trainers have levels as well as Pokémon. Just a spitball idea, a lot would have to be thought through extensively. But the idea is there

Thank you so much for these videos. They are going to be so helpful for this game. As for my play style, I am going to try the stealth style to avoid battle and avoiding knocking out Pokemon, which I hate that. Only times I would battle is getting research. And yes I will be starting with Rowlett, the Owl pokemon. Some other youtuber suggested the water starter, but I think Rowlett is better since it can learn a variety of moves of different elements. Although technical that does not really matter since you can find a good variety of Pokemon out there. I will most likely play the heck out of this game and having a good story is an excellent bonus, finally a Pokemon game with an engaging story. Also with all kind of neat and useful features, I hope the creators might use them in future Pokemon games, AND make GOOD stories.
