Great advice, I too got caught up in having to see my bait. You made a lot of good points. Always enjoy you’re tutorials.

Good video Hunter! I was at the ramp the day you shot this video and spoke with you. Had taken out a young man from work crappie fishing. Something I have found helpful to me with the Active target and the livescope is I keep the depth at 30' all the time unless fishing deeper, then I double to 60'. By doing this its easier for me to judge the size of the fish, and when I double it the fish are half the size of what I am normally fishing for. If I get on a brush pile and all the crappie look like keepers then I may change the depth to get a better look while fishing them. Look forward to some more content!

I often fish in really shallow water rivers in NC. In your experience what is the shallowest depth that these units are affective. I used mine for the first time last week and found that there was no picture looking at the bank - I assume all your views in this video were forward? I did catch a nice striper, that I never would have seen on the first day out with it, but prefer a pig bass! Maybe you could do a video on using scout and down with AT - Like I said I have only had mine a week and can really only fish on weekends. Thanks for the great videos and wish you best in this tournament season!

Hey Hunter great video and I have the ghost and HDS live's and active target. Do you use down or scout mode and maybe a video for that showing when you would use the different modes and why?

a good realistic breakdown in your video...biggest problem for me, is that I look at that screen and see nothing but various "sparks" lighting up ,and off, reminds me of an old video game where acid rain was falling.....I would have to be very close to the screen to have any chance of interpreting what was on it

Thanks for the video Hunter The pictures are really clear on your video, some others I’ve seen it’s hard to decipher the fish, does this vary a lot by water clarity

Mate, you have got your screen ratios messed up which is why the fish are showing up as lines and difficult to see, let alone tell what they are. Set your distance with the proper ratio to the depth and the fish will look like fish, so much so that you can usually tell what they are as you can see the body shape and fins. In shallow water that does mean you won’t be looking 80ft out but then that is what scout mode is for 👍🎣

What is your contrast and settings because our Lawrence live only shows half our screen and we don’t know what to do
@peytonstephens69483 жыл бұрын
Go you go into depth on your settings for the forward position? Like noise rejection And etc? I know it’s different with water clarity, but is there setting you use more as a base line with different bodies of water?
@HunterShryockFishing3 жыл бұрын
I like to turn my noise rejection off. This allows me to see EVERYTHING the transducer is picking up so nothing goes unnoticed. The higher you have noise rejection turned up, the cleaner the image -BUT, you'll see less details in that image as well. All boils down to your own preference and what helps your eyes distinguish things.

I'm doing my research to figure out which system I want to get. This one looks like a bunch of pixels that are supposed to be things in the water. I think the livescope shows things like an actual shape of a fish and you can see it swim, they say you can tell what species it is too. If i was to choose between the 2 I wouldn't want to look at pixels all day. I'd rather see an image that resembles a fish. But I'm new to this and I'm trying to figure out what is the best system for me. Any advice or suggestions is welcomed for sure.

If it is true that fish get conditioned to the sound and vibrations of forward facing sonar and stop biting over time, then individual manufacturers have a chance to take the lead by simply building a sound distorter on the transducer that mixes up or masks the sound and frequency to keep fish from getting conditioned. Wait and see, this is be a huge selling point for the first company to do it.

Can anybody tell me if the directional arrow and the boat icon will work using a Live unit and active Target only? No Lowrance ghost or Point 1 installed yet..

Is active target more better,,MO BETTA,,than panoptix,,,i live on santee cooper lakes and fish mainly 30 ft and less for bass and crappie,,bream etc,,i want to buy to buy whichever units forward looking sonar is most clear and easy to distinguish fish,,it should be illegal to charge 1200 more for a 12 inch screen versus A 9

It's because I have the noise rejection turned OFF. You can eliminate all the noise by setting the noise rejection to High. I want it off so it gives every bit of detail in the image- I'm not worried about some noise...
