There has to be an easier way that does not involve three holding cells...I just want to be able to catch an escaped zebra finch, we are going to be transporting them to a new cage and one or two may escape in the house... Love the aviary BTW.

You can also make a one way trap door towards a small cage but then you have to wait a long time and keep checking if you have the right Bird

I use a wire mesh cage trap and set it inside the aviary, eventually the bird im after get in there!

Depends on the species and your skills. Sometimes with more chill species your hand is safer and less stress. Other species a net is easier to just block their way.

They will be split up towards my friends aviaries and paired with new partners. So their will be no incest.

Hello, good information. The babies look great. I'm glad that the parents are back on eggs. I will ask a question that viewers might wonder....how do you know you caught the babies and not the parent birds in error? Also, this question is for me.....did you consider keeping one to pair with the owl you have in the bird gallery if you know the sex? I'm looking forward to your next video. Take care, Justine

Thanks. First question: before they look to much like their parents I put a open band on their legs so I could identify them. Check the video for the purple bands ( great question). Second question: No, the female in bird gallery will go with one of the chicks to a friend's Aviary. Hopefully it will be a pair. My pair is too aggressive to put a second pair in.

Can you catch them at night? Or is that too stressful for them?

They are probably easier to catch but it stresses them and all the other birds out more. Some birds can fly themselves to dead due to the urgent stress response and low visibility.

Oh man my owl finches are not tame and are a pain to catch lol….I had to bring one to the vet and the way I got him was I waited till he was in his nest and grabbed the nest 😕 it was the only way I could just get the one I needed…it worked but yah wish they were tamer lol but still love them to death 👍🏻
