Will, i know you only promote products you believe in, so let me say this. Coming from someone who bass fishes daily, and makes between 500 and 1000 casts, the kast kings dont hold up, and their drag is weak. They are very cheaply made reels.
@CookingWithClams2 ай бұрын
It’s hard to give a truly honest review when you only get to fish with the product once. I gotta say the drag on this was good! Not one fish pulled drag. Will it wear down over time? I gotta keep fishing it to be sure. I did like it though. Maybe I’ll revisit the review after a few months fishing it to show if it holds up
@TexasVeteranFishing2 ай бұрын
@@CookingWithClams when i say weak drag, i dont mean stopping the fish. Thats not what drag is designed to do. I mean weak as in not smooth, but jerky. Its a weak point of the reel. For a casual fisherman that may fish a couple times a month for a couple hours,it may be ok. There are far better reels in the value class than those though, like lews as an example.
@chris60542 ай бұрын
@TexasVeteranFishing That's exactly what drag does. It keeps constant pressure on the fish to wear the fish down/out, while also trying to preventing a tackle failure/break because the drag is the "give" in the line at that moment.
@TexasVeteranFishing2 ай бұрын
@@chris6054did you not watch the video? He clearly says the drag never slipped because he had it locked all the way down. It WONT slip when locked all the way down.... so no... thats not what its designed for.

Looks delicious ! Paul certainly knocked the redfish back. I was commercial fishing back then and I remember multi acre schools of 30 to 60 pound redfish offshore. You couldn’t fish on a rock for grouper if the redfish were there. The blackened redfish craze started and what was once trash was now gold. Guys like Gene Raffield purse seined whole multi acre schools until those schools were now a dozen fish.
@CookingWithClams2 ай бұрын
You know! It’s crazy. One mans recipe almost wiped out a species
@Daveincc2 ай бұрын
@@CookingWithClams I wouldn’t go so far as wiping out the species but the stocks were definitely way down. Once the really big schools were gone the smaller schools weren’t worth targeting and the pressure dropped. The redfish craze also waned. I personally helped popularize amberjack after the redfish craze. They were the next trash fish to take off and get hammered. I helped run a seafood market and we started giving away a half pound of amberjack when people bought a pound of grouper or snapper. In no time amberjack became a hot seller. Soon the giant schools of AJ went away too. I look back and think popularizing AJ wasn’t a good idea.
