4 years of searching how to fish and this is the most comprehensive video yet! No one else explains this much! People usually just show you what bait they use and then cut to them reeling in a fish. No one ever explains what to do with the bait in the water! Thank you for explaining this technique. I wish there were more videos like this for every kind of fish!

I live on the outer banks and just recently taught myself that slow-fishing method for flounder (with gulps too) and its awesome! Caught my first of many keeper flounder this year, including a 19" and a 19 1/2' fat 'ol flounder! Happy Fishing!

good video. I actually ended up getting some of these and they work. Caught a few flounder on them already. Where I fish (Chesapeake Bay) you wont get near the bottom with a 1/4 ounce jig without using a 3 way swivel set up. I use that, but I also use 3 ounce jig heads for getting to bottom with no 3 way. One thing I recommend for bigger flounder is getting a jig head that the bait wont slip off easily. Lost a few big bites from cheap jig heads letting the shrimp be pulled down. GL on fishing!

Dad and I would use spro bucktails and gulps to catch flounder in the Chesapeake bay like 5 years ago or so. Dad bought some when they first came out and we used to use live minnows ALL the time. One day we couldn't get minnows and tried the gulps and they were BETTER! Good job!

I just went to Florida and tried saltwater fishing for the first time and that Gulp stuff is no joke. I didn't catch any flounder but I did catch a speckled trout, pompano, lady fish and several other toothy things that I couldn't identify. They hit it on the bottom as if it were some type of live or cut bait.

Great job captain. Everyone has their own opinion on how to catch certain fish. You've obviously proven your method. I have my own method and plan to use yours next time out in the Del. bay. I especially liked how you made your trip personalized (I'm assuming that was a paid excursion). The men with you were smiling and catching fish. Thats all that matters. We need more captains like this one. Again... great job!

Great instructional video, you are on point with your instructions. The gulp works well because they look like the natural bait "brown shrimp". the brown shrimp grow in the area you're fishing. Flounder and fluke both are caught in your area. Fluke have their eyes or the left and flounder have their eyes on the right side. They both look very similar. It's terrible that so many people make such negative remarks when you are using your valuable time to make a video. Good Luck and keep posting.

I have a flounder story for you. I was live fishing with finger mullet off the South Jetty. in St. Aug.,Fl. I always tucked a hand net into the back of my pants before climbing on the rocks. I was standing on a huge flat rock and lowered my bait down the side of the rock, just to test the depth. Damn if i did not get a huge flounder hit right away, and realized the net was in my van. I got this big flounder up and was clutching it to my chest, when he spit the hook and slipped away into the drink. So I climbed back to my van in a big-assed hurry to rebait, got back on the rock, and same thing after dropping right on the same spot. I then realized that in my haste, I had left the net in the van again! So another replay, clutching the fish to my chest and him slipping away too. May have been the same fish, Caught 6 more that day, but none as big as the 2 that got away. I used to have names for all my favorite rocks there. This rock is one of a pair that I dubbed 'The Sisters' and only fished it when the tide dropped about 2 feet making them visible but slippery. Used to get flounder there in June-July. In May,used to catch 3 foot Blues that were heading north for the summer. Great times when you could drive to the jetties.

When fishing trout and flounder I do not set the hook, however I do a lean back. For trout it is great cause they have a soft lip and prevents ripping bait out of their mouth. For flounder I feel the same aspect applies. You are 100% right about working the jig slow, just my personal opinion.

Thanks for the video!, camera man did his best which was good enough for me = ) really appreciate the video, really going to remember the tips n tricks, especially how it usually feels like you're on bottom when catching a flounder, truer'er words could not be spoken, last time I caught a flounder I was reeling in, and .. I got stuck on the bottom, I yelled OutLoud "Da** I'm Caught!", and stopped reeling, as soon as I did, the reel started Spooling out, and I said Whoa I gotta Fish! keeper Flounder, right after that same spot, caught a Black Drum.. good times.

on the east coast the best gulp for the flounder is the white swimming mullet. Atleast thats what we have the best luck with. Best way to use this stuff, on your way to where your going to fish, take a few gulps out and let them dry out a little in your tackle box. This will let them firm up slightly. Now dont let them sit out over night or anything they will turn into leather haha, but let them dry for about 10 minutes before use. They will work just as well, and last 10 times longer.

Hey Addict, have you ever thought about running Gulp shrimp tandem style? I see where logic lures is having a great deal of success with it. Just a thought. I would think it would help lure them to the area of the bait.I'll give it a shot and let you know how it went in the near future...To be continued. Ha!

Gulp! actually works great. i've caught catfish, bass, sunfish, flounder, bluefish, weakfish, shad, etc. i like the 4" grubtail, the 2" grubtail, the paddletail, and the 3" shad the best. i usually rig them on beetlespinners, jigheads, chatterbait heads, and scrounger heads. good luck.

There could be an exception to the wait to set the hook for flounder. I was fishing a spot near the mouth of an inlet right near the ocean had was fishing live minnows and flounder hit the minnows hard, and was hooked right away. Didn't even have to set the hook. The strike was just as I picked the line up from the bottom a couple of times. A 20 inch fish. I used a flounder hook.

Is that color Gulp you're using represent the prey that flounder in your area normally feed on, or do they hit that color just because? I've always been partial to using the New Penny shade because it's close to being the natural color of the local shrimp and It usually works, but it seems that lately they've been slacking up on it a bit. By the way, nice vid.

You're only right about the expensive part. I'm a fishing guide from Minnesota and catch more walleyes (the state's beloved fish; can be extremely finicky and tough to catch) on Gulp! than any other technique throughout the year. I'm not a fan of big companies such as Pure Fishing but they sure have one great product here. Does it need to be expensive? Not really, but it is one of a kind and when they sell as well as they do why change it? Maybe change how you use it and you'll start believing.

How many folks you got on that boat? Everytime the camera swings around, there's someone new to be seen. You're right about that Gulp bait, that scent trail it leaves brings 'em all in. Another one of the things I like about this bait is, it stops the bait stealers cold. Yes, Gulp costs a lot, but think about all of the live bait you're not losing to the pinfish, catfish and other nuisances.
