Great video, Lyle. Very informative. Do you have a video on the basic line rigging (leader/float setup, soup to nuts) for salmon and steelhead for drift fishing?

Interesting suggestion...never used yarn in the Lower, and never considered it mostly due to the turbulent current in that river (I'm guessing the yarn somewhat mimics a jig). Will give that a shot next time I'm down there! I've often noticed the bite simply turns on and off in that river at specific times during the day. Sometimes switching up the color works, other times I have to completely switch up the baits I'm using.

Yarn is a nice option when fishing in cold water or around a lot of snags. It is very floaty in the water and moves very naturally when fished behind a bead (tandem) or on its own. Sometimes when the water is really clear, it can't be outfished. Tight lines in the new year!

@@lylegayder Will definitely give it a shot. Only have a couple of colors for yarn, I believe chartreuse and pink right now, so I will try it next time I'm out! Proves steelhead will eat almost anything...a buddy of mine caught one which he filleted later that day, had a whole hot dog in its stomach.

I like this rig tandem with 2 different size/colour beads. Should I put a larger bead at the back or front

hey Adam, with tandems I like running my larger bead closer to my swivel, and smaller bead at the end of my line

When the trout bite gets tough and other people are catching and I am not I usually just whine and complain and then park my boat in a heated shop and switch to ice fishing.

Probably the safest bet. Tight lines John

What size hook is best for your tandem rigs
@lylegayder Жыл бұрын
I like a size 8 or 10 with my top bead (8-14mm bead) and a 12 on my bottom bait (bead or yard)
