If there is an easy way to catch perch, then there must be a hard way? I have caught yellow perch on a bare hook. I have had them jump out of the water to grab my jig that is hanging off the end of my pole! I have caught them when a large perch grabbed a smaller perch I had hooked. Just sayin', I don't know of a "hard way" to catch perch? Maybe just tying a night crawler on the end of the line without a hook? I have caught bass that way when crawdad fishing with a piece of liver tied on! The hardest "thing" with perch is keeping them OFF your line when fishing for crappie!
