Just wanted to say thanks for this video, was visiting family and snapper fishing in Navarre July '22, got limit fri & sat, due to Blue Angel show on Sunday I decided to skip the traffic jam and follow your advice on the Bay, launched outta Ft Pickens and caught my PB snapper...31 inches, absolute tank. Thanks again, got mom hooked on watching your videos as well. lol

Great catch man, always wanted to come over there and do that. Only thing on your setup, is to put a plastic bead below your weight(between weight and swivel), if not that weight beat against the swivel and will cut your line/knot after a few fish.
@southernsalt4 жыл бұрын
Man I’ve actually never had a problem with it breaking off there but I’ve seen others use the bead. Definitely worth adding it though to ensure I don’t get broke off there. Thanks for the tip.

Another great video and tips, doesn’t look like a bad spot at all still being able to see the beach I wouldn’t be afraid to “paddle” out there only thing is I don’t run a fish finder.
@southernsalt4 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, easy spot to get to but a fish finder is definitely needed.

Southern Salt Kayak Fishing ok thanks, someone bought me one of those cheap “Lucky” fish finders but i know it wont work for that. Just another thing to add to the upgrade list lol.

Pensacola bay is one of my favorite places, never know what you’re gonna get there. I caught a grouper the same day
@countylineoutdoors17244 жыл бұрын
Southern Salt Kayak Fishing that’s pretty cool to catch a inshore grouper. Yeah I need to do some research on the whole bay. I always want to get on that sheepshead bite I see everybody posting in the winter/spring.

I live in the Pensacola area, but I’ve only fished fresh water. I’ve got some kayaks being shipped to the house. I haven’t watched a lot of your videos, but do you go out in the open ocean on your kayak any?

Any spots in pensacola I could use a 8lb medium action rod? I’m moving from Michigan, and my gear is mostly for bass and trout.

Do they have red snapper like that in mobile bay near fort morgan?
@southernsalt4 жыл бұрын
Yo know I’ve heard rumors that some have been caught a long time ago. But I would say there aren’t any spots in Mobile bay because it’s to shallow. Unlike Pensacola where their bay is 50 feet in some spots going all the way out of the mouth. There are some offshore spots only a few miles from Fort Morgan that do hold snapper though.

Does it bother you when boats come by and rock your kayak?

Depends on how close they are, I only mind when they come so close and put me or my gear at risk.

I put out a couple numbers to bay spots on my Patreon page. It’s only $20 a month but should definitely get you on some good spots.
