I live in South Africa and we fish mostly trout or bass in my home province. This is some serious skill you have. River fish are just so mi h stronger than fish caught in dams. Stunning fish you caught here and 4 pounds is not small bud.

My second trip to Scotland fishing for salmon , was a miserable day raining steadily, freelined a purple prawn under a tree on the far bank , line stopped i tighten down thought i was snagged but when then the " snagged " moved i had my first salmon! In its mouth was hanging my friends " flying C " that he had lost to the fish earlier, i had the fish he got his lure back ! Nearly 30 years ago now but a great memory . A year later second trip lure fishing with a bright yellow " lazzy ike " lure , a seasoned salmon angler doubted its effectiveness, i proved him wrong! Magic 😊

I used to catch a lot of salmon from the Lune on purple and red shrimps back in the day. I once caught 15 over three consecutive afternoon sessions in mid-September. I found that trotting the bait into the faces of the fish under a float at the speed of the current was more effective than swinging the bait across the fish. But different bits of rivers fish differently.
