How to catch squid in deep water

Using a method to utilise an Egihead Egi (squid jig) in super deep offshore water to chase squid whilst trying to catch Snapper at the same time.

I like to use a net to get them on board . Because if you get something big you can't land it with the lift method

Look for a reef mate, kelp only grows on rock 😊🤙🏻

Datder Dastric If I’m Fishing a new area I’d be looking for reefs basically and drop offs on my sounder, and from there I’d scrape the bottom with my jigs to hopefully snag and pull up some kelp. It’s a bit of a trick I do because there’s not much point fishing a reef with no kelp on it

BPS pretty much, just make sure you are hitting the bottom in new areas. You want to make sure u can bring up some kelp on your jigs. That’s where they will be. Others may tell u fishing light is the key to success. If you do that you will be paying a fortune for more squid jigs. I’m using pe 1.0 in that sunline multicoloured 8 strand stuff with 10lb sunline fc rock Fluro carbon leader. I lose the odd one, but we get a lot of snags
