Omg I love your videos so much. They are worth their weight in gold. Mr Lussi was the man that changed everything on how we looked at spinning and jumping for sure. Love your multi dimensional teaching. Not just another video showing someone doing it…..now copy. Duh! Xx

Ooh i like the idea of pretty and ugly three turn. It kinda helps me understand twizzles vs spins too! Tks!

Loved this video, thank you!! I have been struggling with spins for the past few months and some of the tips in this video really helped me finally get over the hump and I have successfully done some scratch spins. The other day I even had a literal “snot flyer” 😂. I immediately thought of this video! Keep the great content coming.

Thank you for your incite!!! I have not had anybody speak about anchoring the spin before. It all makes sense!

Thank you so much for going into the details and just telling us where the contact is happening on the blade. The concept of anchoring the spin with the back part of the toe pick was something I hadn’t registered or been told, and now I have something concrete to practice with. Thank you!

As an adult, I am having trouble finding idn the foot placement. This has been very educational and makes so much sense. I need to try now that I understand a little more. 😮I would love more on spins. I can't go lower on my seat spins and get roystion on my camel spins.

Thank you! I hope you keep at it! When in doubt bend your knees more, wait one full rotation in your forward entry edge AND make your forward edge small and tight!

Thank you so much Sam!! Let me know if you have any requests!
@samfromuk2 жыл бұрын
@@cherylkeeganfaust9936 I have many requests haha but right now I would be interested in how a busy adult should structure their on ice training if they can only make it to the rink 3 times per week. Is it simply warm up, do edge drills, work on new techniques, cool down, stretch and then go home? There must be more to it to work smart and be efficient with one's time.
@cherylkeeganfaust99362 жыл бұрын
@@samfromuk that sounds about right HOWEVER in my back power pull video I talk about how much off ice can help train positions so when you take it on ice it feels natural. No matter what skill you are working on we all should train the positrons….I used this method to pass my last two gold dances while coaching full time, opening the rink, teaching in two states, being skate director and training at the gym twice a day !!! Definitely a great video idea!! Thank you!! Don’t be shy about sending me your other requests!

@@cherylkeeganfaust9936 amazing thanks and congrats to you. I saw your day in the life video and was very impressed. You inspired me to get my arse out of bed and train early at the rink before I drop the kids off at school. I will go through all your content before I send further requests just in case you have already covered it. Your channel is really one of the best on KZbin and funny too.

Excellent tips on how to center spins. With enough practice, basic spins can become powerful spins.

Jeff McNair - thank you so much! The basic spin positions are so important and at the lower levels you can really boost your score with simple basic spins executed well!

Hi, Cheryl. I think I deleted my comment on accident. 50 year old skater picking up skating after 30 years! I’m presently re-teaching myself edges and my spin. I have new skates that I’ve successfully broken in now but I’m having trouble finding my rocker. I had Majestic, pattern 99 blades prior (10) and now I have Jackson’s Mirage (9 3/4). I’m not sure if this is why I’m having trouble. I can successfully get into the “H” position but can’t seem to bring it in. Hopefully with your tips in this video I can get it centered. :)

Thank you for the wonderfully detailed video! I am struggling with spinning on the right part of the blade - I keep coming onto the toe pick rather than the rocker. Do you have any suggestions?
@cherylkeeganfaust99362 жыл бұрын
Hi!! Thank you for your comment! I always prefer to see a video to make corrections HOWEVER my best guess is this…because the blade is like a rocking chair the further you go back on the blade the more you will rock forward. Make sure you are on the middle back part of your blade on the FO edge entering the spin then keep you skating knee bent AS YOU HIT THE TOE then you can straighten it. Also make sure the bottom toe pick of the spinning foot drags as you spin to help stabilize you….there should be two points touching the ice when you spin….the toe pick and the ball at the same time. Let me know if that helps!

Thank you so much, this video is absolutely golden, I noticed you are using JW gold seal blades. Do you think some blades profile is easier to spin on especially for beginners?
@cherylkeeganfaust9936 Жыл бұрын
I’m so glad you found it useful! Thank you! I personally use Gold Star and my higher level athletes wear Pattern 99 and Gold Seal. All of those blades are considered top of the line. In my opinion a beginner using a blade that high is equivalent to putting a student driver in a Maserati instead of a Honda. Those blades do make it easier to spin. It I just if you have the strength and control to use it. I have a graduated selection of boot and blade choices based on skill level and if you need a personal recommendation I’d be happy to share. Just contact me at haveanicedaycf@icloud.com

On the subject of spins and rockers, is it true that spins and turns are more difficult on an 8' rocker vs a 7' ? Just curious, as I have two sets of boots one with each, but haven't skated in the 8' yet. Thanks in advance.

Please answer this question!!! I'm dying to know more 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@cherylkeeganfaust9936 Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if it’s more difficult but 7’ may be harder to control if you are a beginner skater. I am a firm believer that your brain and body will get used to whatever you give it!

Re-watched this video again following my constant training and coaching here in the UK. Once again, you have very useful content. One of my coaches made a comment about American v EU spin entry which you cover 4:51 without specifically naming it a particular style. I have never heard it named American or EU style before. Is that something you are aware of? Is it possible that one method would ultimately allow a skater to spin faster/longer? I imagine bringing the right arm and leg round together would be the most efficient but I am just a beginner... with no idea.
@cherylkeeganfaust9936 Жыл бұрын
Hi Sam! I have never heard that before but it makes sense. I simply use the technique that works best for the physical structure and athletic ability of my skater. As long as it produces a great element I’m willing to try it!!

For whatever reason, I have my spin centred and then once I bring my leg or my arms in - together or separately, I fall out of being centred! Why is this?!

I feel a pull backwards right when I'm about to make the hook for the spin and this throws me off balance terribly, I don't know what I'm doing wrong :/ I feel maybe my hips are behind me or I'm not holding the knee bend long enough
@cherylkeeganfaust99362 жыл бұрын
Angelina! Hi! Please send a video and I will be happy to help….my first guess would be (if you are a CCW skater) that your right hip is dropped and lower than your left. Make sure you push you left hip in (make a dent not a bump) and you right leg and hip should be lifted. Also I would try keeping your left arm in front but look over your shoulder severely to the left trying to look at your right heel as you glide on the FO edge going in. You will feel like a dog chasing it’s tail! Let me know if that helps!
