"Evaporate into the leather" HAHAHAHAH. Snake oil sales. It evaporates into the air. All leather seats come from the factory with a PU coating, so I'm not sure it "absorbs" into the leather either. This is coating the top of the leather - the dyed or painted surface - that's all. Good if you appreciate the glossy look, but likely not all the durable on a seat with constant wear.
@YOULTZY Жыл бұрын
its a little known fact that these do nothing ahah
@chrissemsch8781 Жыл бұрын
If, as you say, the coating doesn’t absorb into the leather, then why do dirt/oils/ stain do. And, if a coated seat doesn’t get the stains(on the seats I’ve done), why is that?
@MyGuyKirby Жыл бұрын
Tip for John, when working over a freshly coated surface like at the end of video, please consider to lay down a towel over the seat bottom. You are placing a bare arm on the surface and potentially adding contamination. Keep up the great time at CAP!

Cool! I could use some Leather Shield!! 💪🏼💪🏼
@KPDetails Жыл бұрын
I used Leather Shield on my wife's light colored Ridgeline a few months ago. She bought a new leather belt and there is dye transfer on the back of her seat. I've used mild cleaner, strong cleaner, steam, steam with strong cleaner, steam with 3D citrus cleaner/degreaser all with the colour lock brush. Any recommendations on how to remove the stain?
@Rcd710 Жыл бұрын
Thats why i find these coatings to be a waste of money for the interior. Have you tried using a magic eraser? You have to use caution with this aporoach though as the eraser is a mild abrasive and is capable of stripping the original dye off the seat if you get too aggressive
@KPDetails Жыл бұрын
@@Rcd710 yes, I tried the magic eraser as well. I'm about to try Leatherique to see if that will pull it up and then try a different protectant from either Colour lock or Leathermaster
@Rcd710 Жыл бұрын
What about one of those white scrub pads? I would think some like that you almost in a sense need to “scratch” it off of the leather. Thats such a frustrating feeling when its impossible to get something out
@KPDetails Жыл бұрын
@@Rcd710 not sure which pads you are referring to.
@rasulmuratov6772 Жыл бұрын
I would leave it the way it is, now when you even tried magic eraser,otherwise you may remove the dye completely and its gonna look worse

Can this be used also on leatherette ? Which is imitation leather, if not what can I use ceramic wise on it.

Aren’t most leather seats covered with a plastic from the factory? So essentially you’re coating the plastic?
@ChicagoAutoPros Жыл бұрын
Everything in a car's interior has some kind of coating or protecting layer in it. Our goal is to keep these layers in-tact for as long as possible and to keep the interior clean and protected.
@rasulmuratov6772 Жыл бұрын
From my own experience these coating will help leather to stay cleaner longer,but won't protect from dye transfer from your jeans etc.

This is a little off-topic. But I was wondering if you ever use the product diamond clear paint pros. Seems like this product is too good to be true. I wonder if you’ve heard about it and if not, I was wondering if maybe this is a product that you would ever review

What is the benefit of coating leather? Car leather is already "coated", and as far as i can tell, is NOT porous. I can understand why we would treat fabric, but not leather.
@ColeSpolaric Жыл бұрын
It's funny how you pronounce gyeon. It's a very American pronunciation.... Definitely not how it's pronounced in Korean.
@Ruhdiculus Жыл бұрын
You wouldn’t pronounce Caesar in Latin when you speak English; you say it how you would in English.
@ColeSpolaric Жыл бұрын
@@Ruhdiculus it's not meant to be a hard criticism or anything. Most people would have no idea the correct way to pronounce it, and I have a feeling that gyeon knows this so they just go along with the English sounding pronunciation.
