Very helpful video. Thank you! I want to encourage you to do more videos. You're very good at instructing folks in a step by step manner. I know it's a pain to work and shoot video, but you do it very well. i dropped off of KZbin for years after doing videos, so I know. But you do a great service & I hope the videos you have made and will make, will help you have some side income for years to come. Cheers!

Ideally if someone is new to chainsaw carving never try plunge cutting with the tip of the saw kick backs are more likely to happen and they happen fast. Learn about the technique of plunging before trying it and I recommend steel toed boots and saw chaps for added safety.

@EricCaronChainsaw6 жыл бұрын
This one is a quick carve takes about an hour and I sell them for 50$ unfinished to my partner's that resell them. If I were to sell it myself I would seal and sell for 150. For everything else I take more time on and put more detail in, I'm pretty firm on 100$ per ft (height)

great video thanks for sharing. what type of saw chain do you use? semi chisel or full? and do you file it at a different angle for carving? thanks
@andyanderson19446 жыл бұрын
Nice job on the eagle are you carving cedar? It is soft but takes good detail I just bought the 362cm computer controlled carb to replace my 440 mag it doesn't have as much power as the 44o but it has tons of top end reminds me of husky saws I used to run good demonstration of plunge cutting with a chainsaw lots of chain speed slow rate of feed into the wood and a sharp chain very little kick back keep up the good work on the videos and remember 10% inspiration 90% perspiration makes a successful chainsaw carve or starve
@EricCaronChainsaw6 жыл бұрын
Western red cedar!! And sometime i get my hands on old-growth!! And yes the 362 i have is my first ever pro series saw and the biggest iv had yet! iv been told you usually don't need any bigger than that for carving. And yes carve or starve indeed!!
@lenhowl5 жыл бұрын
Hey man just wondering if you modify your chains in any way? I saw on a UK carving forum where they grind down the back, or heel as they call it, of the chainsaw teeth. Any thoughts on this. And by the way am loving your vids.

What kind of bar oil do you use? I'm a beginner and all of mine turn black from the oil
@EricCaronChainsaw6 жыл бұрын
Michael O'Brien just normal heavy Stihl chainsaw oil. oil pens to nourish wood not sure how it would turn black honestly have never had that problem what kind of wood are you using?
@michaelobrien56496 жыл бұрын
Eric Caron pine mainly. I've used Stihl oil, but it turns the color of the wood dark
