Always fascinates me to see people come up with innovative solutions such as your half pipe sander and your roller etc. Also the larger tip is a must it would seem. It'll save me a lot of hassle. From one problem solver to another I tip my hat to you. Thanks for the video, I'm now slightly less afraid of my 1st new tip application. Cheers.

This is a great demo video. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. I have been changing my own snooker cue tips for years with little more than a razor knife and sandpaper, but sometimes I can take 30 minutes or more to do the job. I am a perfectionist so sometimes I even need more than one go to get it right. Lately, a few guys in my club have been asking for me to take care of their tips as well. Your creative invention of custom tools for the job is nothing short of simple genius and will save me a whole bunch of time in future. Thank you very much.

Thanks for your kind comment. I hope I was of help for you to shorten the process of changing a cue tip, making it easier and hopefully getting it perfectly centered at the first try. Thanks again, and hope this video was of good use :)

reading some of the comments you would think Joe put the tip on with a catapult after dropping it in a greasy chip pan . to many people get hung up on things.when you strip away the bulls**t its a piece of leather stuck on the end of a stick as long as it is glued on securely you can shape it to whatever size and shape you like. ive seen tips replaced in 3 minutes during matches no tools no dust free environments. glue on, tip on, press and hold ,cut to size, shaped as you go. nice one Joseph i thought it was a decent video

hi what is that small roller you used called??...where can I buy one ?? and what are you using to support the rear off the cue whilst its on the roller??
@JosephCini110 жыл бұрын
I don't now what it is called and where to buy one, I had constructed it myself for this specific purpose. To support the rear I used a small block of steel with a hole in it (to put in the cue) to act as a holder.

What type of tip did you used? Good job. No need to press the tip? Blue diamond tip should be pressed before you use. Please answer. Thanks.
@JosephCini110 жыл бұрын
Yes, the tip I used was a blue diamond one. While shaping it, you will be applying pressure so you don't need to press it again. (you would have already done the pressing process). Thanks.

good afternoon sir, amazing video, i do the exact same thing but for my pool cue.. is it possible for you to tell me what is the thing with the 2 rollers called? also an idea is when I put the butt on the piece of what looked like wood. u could have that hole much bigger and get a metal bearing with inner diameter to fit the cue snug and spin freely on the bearing ring system. looking forward to know what that thing with 2 rollers is called. thank you
@JosephCini19 жыл бұрын
+Aman Lokhandwala Hi, Thanks for your interest. I made the thing with the 2 rollers myself. Two small rubber wheels on which the cue can rotate freely. Good idea there with the bearing, might implement it as well in fact. Thanks a lot :)

Could u give me an idea on how to make the wheels thing. Because buying a 11mm ID or 12mm ID wheel bearing is 30+$$

Joseph Cini If you could even give me just a couple ideas, how to go about looking for stuff to build one It would be very helpful. Here in America, it's very hard to find people to change cue tips nad they usually charge $20-40 + tip charge

A perfect tip, the only thing is, when you buy new tips, they tend to be really thick. I've been told never to cut the tip width way, so how did you get your tip relatively thin? Can you sand the face of the tip down to size? I thought the sandpaper was just for the sides of the tip? I speak as a complete DIY layman.
@JosephCini110 жыл бұрын
If I understand you correctly, I cut the tip from the bottom side if it is very thick to get it thinner. And yes, I sand the face of the tip, even so to give it the perfect shape for my liking.

Is it really necessary to file a brand new tip down so much? I see so many people doing this when demonstrating putting a new tip on, but you don't need to take anywhere near that much off to get a good dome on the tip. Isn't that just wasting a lot of it? I really don't understand this practice.
@2305denver5 жыл бұрын
Year old post lol but I sand mine down as I prefer the feel it gives.. When it's full size and box fresh it's to cushiony for my liking. I've now purchased a tip compreser that I put the tip in before I put it on, that makes a big difference

I hate complaining about anything and I think it takes a lot courage to post something like this publicly. Since it worked I guess it is ok for this person but I can't help feel like this is either a persons first attempt at trying to do this or if it was just an example of the wrong way to do it. Im just scared someone will watch this and actually believe this is the right way to do it. I feel obligated to inform viewers to beware. If someone is looking for the right way to do it you might consider watching a few more videos and taking the best of all of the ideas out there and not just this one video. I'm not trying to criticize this person but rather warning/informing others so that they don't use this method.
@rsburks7 жыл бұрын
The Pipe tool is a good idea. It would be good to have 2 different sizes for both the dime and nickel type tips using this tool. Depending on the 'radius of curvature' the individual person prefers.
@JosephCini17 жыл бұрын
While I respect your opinion, I feel you have criticized my method without actually pointing out what you think is wrong with it. Just as a capitulation, using this method allows your tip to be centered every-time, anytime!
@rsburks7 жыл бұрын
Joseph, you are absolutely correct. I should have been more clear. I'm not sure if I already have this ability or not but I would rather contact you directly instead of posting more here. And I dont like my post and thinking about replacing it with something more specific what doesn't sound so horrible. my email, if it is allowed is cini@speedenet.com
@rsburks7 жыл бұрын
someone pointed out to me that even though this is not a great way to do this (my opinion only), if this is a one-time repair his method requires almost no special tools to buy whereas my method uses tools that are made for this and there is a cost involved that many would not want to make. The cost should definitely be taken into consideration here. And this is cheap, EZ and works for some.
