nice to see you looking after the older tractors rather than getting rid of them and getting new tractors

I love the sound of these 135's, brings back a lot of memories. Still one of our more used tractors.

Love the videos Richard! Keep up the good work! We've a 135 from 1969 still used for tedding & raking hay to this day. Once looked after they're pretty bulletproof. Also no cab just a roll bar so ideal for those warm Summer days if we ever get some again. Also have the 390T for moving black bags of silage, beast of a machine and taking delivery of a 690 tomorrow for moving bales & feeding. Hopefully it's as reliable as the 135! the cab is bad with rust alright as I've seen in your previous videos but as long as it gets the job done it's A1.

Thanks David. The 135 is a great little tractor. Rust is always a problem on the 690 model. We would have probably kept our if it hadn't been eaten away with rust so badly
@daithimacconmara7 жыл бұрын
690 arrived yesterday and engine seems strong. Was told it was rebuilt 2 years ago has 7500 hours on the clock so should be good for a long time yet. Mechanically sound apart from handbrake not engaging on the teeth so hopefully a small fix. Air blower not working & heater lever stuck in the hot position. Also sunroof needs 2 new gas struts & most importantly a new stereo! :-)

We put the small gear lever in L or H then turn key left for 30-60 seconds depending how cold it is to fire up the heater then put the small gear lever into the center position or S then turn the key left again to perform a HS or Heat Start.

Richard, Love the old Massey Ferguson 135's. Hope you took the old float from the original sender out of the tank as it could get jammed on the new sender unit giving you a false reading. I use to always carry an old wooden ruler in the toolbox and dip the tank before going out into the paddock to do any work. NEVER trusted the fuel gauge. Also never open the fuel tap more than a Maximum of two full turns otherwise you are tapping into the reserve supply. Then if you run out of fuel in the paddock all you have to do is open the tap fully to get the reserve fuel enough to get you back to the farm house or shed.

When you say the fuel tap, is it the tap that you shut down for servicing the fuel filter ?

A quick job that didn't have something else go wrong, don't usually see that in farming. Did you need to fix it so the tractor could be road worthy? On one we have here it's never used on the road and we just look into the diesel tank to see how much there is. Same with the petrol tank on the ATV.

Very sad to see that you scrapped the made in England unit with such glee. Once original parts like this are gone, they're gone forever. You might be happy to repair your tractor with Chinese and Indian spares, but please at least offer your original repairable junk parts to a vintage tractor club so they can be repaired and reused for another 50 years.
