How to Change a Loco Address using a Hornby Select

The first video in my "Basics" series. Short sharp (less than 5 mins) "how to videos", building on lessons I've learnt, so you don't have to make the same mistakes. From an absolute beginner's perspective, confused as I am with DC and DCC, this is the playlist for you, I'll try to keep it simple wherever possible. Hi AHJ, Just found your "now to" videos. Ten years or so I had an opportunity of purchasing a Hornby Select Controller at a very low price and jumped at it, Last year I bought my first DCC Loco (Crosti 9F), and this year I bought a TTS for it. Quite frankly I don't have a clue on how to write a CV into the controller (I did have instructions but have mislay them somewhere) I did see a glimpse of another video you did about having an old version and sending it to Hornby for an up-grade, so thanks for these How-To and I'll be searching for more...by-the-way at 75 I don't read manuals either.

I’d love to upgrade to an elite, I think once I get everything up and running I will lay a couple of hints for my wife before my birthday and see if she is feeling generous!! Hi, nice video, I have the Hornby Elite and have just purchased a used select which I would like to use as a walkabout plugged into the elite, have you any idea how to get them to work. When I plug the select into the Elite I cant get it work and I cant get the Elite to work. Obviously something simple, any advice would be appreciated. Many Thanks

Hi Dvdkar, have you updated the elite firmware? That could be the issue. You may also have to select classic mode on the elite. I hope these help. Otherwise it should be relatively straightforward, I’ve not heard of too many issues. If those fixes don’t help let me know and I’ll rack my brains for other options.

I tried doing this to my bachmann class 221 (changing it from 03 to 21) and after I did it the lights dont come on, anyone got a clue what to do?

Hi Somax. That is weird, can’t think of a reason that would happen. I guess you could just leave it at 3 and change any other locos from 3 to something else…. But it’s a weird one, thanks for raising.

@@somax1259 Hi Somax if you can still write to it you can change CV 8 to 8. That should reset it all back to address 3 etc.
