Very helpful, thank you. With your instructions, I had no difficulty changing the battery in my Panasonic LV-65 shaver, and saved the cost of buying a new one!

Thank you so much for this! Just for anyone else who is finding this video: the symptoms for me were that one day my Panasonic ES-LV95-S shaver was working fine and then the next day it was refusing to turn on and refusing to charge either on the cleaning dock or plugged in directly. I swapped out the battery and now it's working perfectly again (it needed to be charged for a moment to bring it back to life after the battery swap, just as you said). The battery part number is WESLV9ZL2508, and the screwdriver needed is a PH1 (small Phillips head) Thanks again!

Great video, for people with ES-LV81: contrary to Internet info the battery there is NOT soldered, it is exactly the same removable battery as shown here. The only thing you need to look for is: A. the main casing has cables connected to the charging pins since they are part of the casing - careful not to take it off and rip off the charging cables. B. the top two pins of the casing are hidden under a plastic element close to the shaver's head (in this example they are not) - you need to unclip the element before getting access to the last 2 screws and being able to unscrew the casing.

Correct! Most (generic/no-name) lithium-ion batteries are of a lower capacity, regardless of what is printed on the label! And (as you said) are crap! Most of the time, they're just poor quality.

I couldn't find the original battery in US, got one from UK when a cousin was visiting. Replaced, charged, it worked for few days then it shuts down completely. The charge is there but it shuts down. If I restart I can get another 3-4min shave before it shuts off again. I'm guessing there might be some reset sequence to be performed when new battery is changed. The circuit is tripping for some reason even with a new battery.

Good video! I have an Arc 3, but based on the diagram in the manual, the process seems pretty similar. The manual also says that the shaver will no longer be water proof if the battery is replaced by unauthorized personnel (or something along those lines). Of course, they wouldn't want people to mess around and break something or hurt themselves. But I was worried that there would be some gaskets or glue that would need replacing. Doesn't seem to be the case in the video. Were you still able to wash your shaver without any issues after opening it up? Thanks!

How long did you have the razor for before replacing the battery? How significant was the shorter battery life? I have the same razor and am considering either relaxing the blades & foil, or upgrading to a new version of the Arc 5 / Lambash.

@@AustinB747 I am 1 year late but - I had my ES-LV81 for more than 10 years, 5 years of daily usage. Works perfectly well, but the battery is the pain - I think it holds at most 5 shaves of 3 minutes each. Instead of paying 250€+ for a new shaver I can just replace the battery.

This we helpful, but it’s electricially impossible for a battery to instantly discharge - your old battery just had no charge!
@ericfleetwood67446 ай бұрын
My guess is that when you remove the battery the internal circuitry senses zero current and resets itself. I suspect that had he left it on the charger it would have pretty rapidly adjusted to show full power, much faster than actually charging takes.
@wngus2 жыл бұрын
I tried to do that and somehow managed to completely damage the first screw's head in the process, with a PH1 screwdriver ... It just wouldn't come out, and the head got "eaten away" by the screwdriver. Not sure what if there's a way to fix that now.

@@Loverofengines101 Yeah, not available on Amazon USA that I can find (I DID find it on Amazon UK, but the shipping was twice as much as the battery). Do you have a link?

@@kevincecilTN I searched for a US distributor for these also. We are so spoiled by Amazon Prime free shipping, I know. There are plenty of knockoffs available on Amazon, but I'm thinking that if I only need a battery every four years, I can splurge for some expensive shipping to get an authentic manufacturer's part. Better than taking an aftermarket part of unknown quality and potentially having to replace it more often, or worse, something that melts / catches fire during usage or charging and destroys the shaver and potentially its cleaning/charging station (and potentially your house). The whole thing was USD$30 delivered, so $7.50/year or $0.63 a month, or about two cents a day.

@@chuck8744 I needed blades as well. $85 for blades, $30 for a battery. $120 for a new razor. I spent the extra $5 and got a whole new razor…
@chuck87442 жыл бұрын
@@kevincecilTN Simultaneously, that makes a lot of sense and no sense at all. Makes complete sense that you'd just buy a new one at that price point, but no sense that they would price their accessories in a manner where it makes more sense to discard and buy new than refresh the old. Not very sustainable on their part.

This shaver has been nothing but JUNK for me! I had to replace the first one because of a tiny little piece of plastic that clips the cover (top) in place. I never dropped this shaver or in any way did something for this piece of plastic to break. So, lucky for me, I was still within the Best Buy return policy and exchanged it for a new one thinking it was bad luck. Well...a few months into the new replacement shaver...the same exact thing happened again! Currently...I'm able to shave with it because I am using tape to hold down the one end where this little piece of plastic broke...again! But to be 0-2 with the most expensive shaver I've ever bought is ridiculous! I will be contacting Panasonic soon (too late to return to the store) to get a new one but sooner or later...I am certain it will end up just like these past two shavers...breaking for no apparent reason.
