How to change bearing Fiat Abarth 500 Most common problem!!

A handy video to see all the steps involved but a few things are giving me the fear! First, having the car propped up on rubber floor mats via a scissor jack and an axle stand in completely the wrong place. With the force you may have to put through the breaker bar to crack the nut on the wheel bearing, the car's at a huge risk of slipping off. I'm also noticing no wheel chocks in place and even if the car is in gear with the handbrake off, it can still move slightly. At the bare minimum you should stick the wheel under the car as a fail safe in case everything goes wrong. The brake caliper is left hanging by the hose which puts a lot of strain on it. Also didn't see any anti-seize being applied to the axle nut, no copper grease on the back of the brake pads and you managed to get loads of grease on the face of the new discs. I hope you have good life insurance cover and hopefully anyone watching this will take these points on board too!

Lots of problems with this video, not just what was mentioned regarding safety by Bob Millar. The rotor taken off had outer stud guides, while the new rotors (and bearings) expected the 12mm studs to be screwed in. Are they supposed to be optional??? All the excessive force on the bearing by hammering the top instead of using the 32mm socket like finally done. No high-temp bearing grease used anywhere, certainly no 207 ft lb torque wrench. Didn't see anything cleaned properly, certainly not brake cleaner used to clean up anything before reassembly, with greasy fingers on the surface of the rotor. Watch this so you know what NOT to do!

I'm having the same issue. Loud roaring noise at about 40 mph and it gets louder the faster you go. I also have a vibration in the front while in 2nd gear...prolly CV axles. FIAT = Fix It Again Tony

My bolts holding the brake carrier on are allen key bolts and are inaccessible

"Most common problem"? ... It's a bearing. They wear. That's it. Get a floating car if you don't want to replace bearings at scheduled intervals.
