I see on your profile you're from Australia, but I'll bet my nonexistent fortune that you're South African. Anyway, great informative video. Clear and to the point. Exactly the info I needed.

You are exactly right. Your nonexistent fortune would be doubling in value. 🤣 Glad you enjoyed the video.

Shot dude, bought an electric plane today after getting too frustrated with my handplane and it kept leaving a trackline on the left hand side. I knew it couldn't be level but had no idea I could fix it. Saved me a lot of grief here.

Should the front shoe be completely level with the rear shoe?
@tooloptics86519 ай бұрын
It should be lower. I set the blade with the front shoe lower than the rear plate. I’m trying to feel the rise of the ruler as the blade passes under it. So you definitely don’t want the front plate to be higher than the back even by a millimeter.

Nice video. The problem I'm having with my planer is, when it's zeroed out, the rear shoe isn't level with the front.
@tooloptics86518 ай бұрын
Thanks. Yes I have the same problem. I think it’s because Ryobi is a cheaper brand.

@@tooloptics8651 my planer was gouging at the start.... the blades were not correctly set up ... they are now after watching the video .... I forgot to connect the extraction hose so spent 30 mins sweeping up lol... cheers from the 🇬🇧

Ha ha. Yes they make a huge mess very quickly. Glad the video helped.

@tooloptics8651 ...fractions can make such a big difference ..I have actually taken the blades out now and trying to get the base plates smoother as they have annoying machine marks on them ... (my fault for buying budget ) ... it will be fine tho just needs some "fine tuning "
